They said there was something "funny" about the direction the drain went...I felt obliged to laugh hysterically (get it? Something "funny" about a drain?). Good thing they hammered it up. The main drain is broken in several places and was "patched' with black visqueen. No wonder the sump won't stop. :eusa_think:

So now we're redesigning the drain system in the basement. :eek5:

Ya sure want the turds running in the right direction, I tell ya.  We've had to have our septic tank pumped a few times.  When they decide they dont want herded down the ole sewer pipe ole mama gets a mite upset, lol and so does ole Frazz cuz guess who gets to clean up the mess :icon_eek:

...yeah you want the drain system working properly for when the water heater blows...... :eusa_doh:

I subscribe to Honcho's theory of keepin' warm...a simple - non technical, user controlled heat on demand that works as long as you have a match... The meter guzzling furnace can stay off as long as it wants and we is still warm....

Reading this I'm seeing flashes of the movie "the money pit".

Oh, have I found a peach of a plumber!

They tore up the floor, found untold (and unexplainable) examples of drunkard hillbilly water engineering spanning the many additions and modifications to the house. Removed all but the pertinant ones, rebuilt the water main into the pressure tank, rebuilt the drains, diverted the floordrain into the sump basin and are installing the slop sink works and a sump diverter today...As of last night he told me we were at...wait for it...

$400... :eek5: I calculated, parts & labor to date to be closer to a $grand$.

I am so glad they brought out the jackhammer... 8)

Good to hear you found good help, Stetto.  The joys of home ownership...

A friend of mine retired recently and started doing home electrical work to stay busy.  I had him come out a few weeks ago to troubleshoot a ceiling fan in the guest room that hasn't worked correctly since we moved in.  Either the fan would work, or the light would work, but not both at the same time.  I replaced the switch, the fan, shuffled wires around, nothing worked.  He came in and five minutes later found an extra wire coming from a switch in the other room, apparently added because the original owner of the house had problems, too. Took him five minutes to fix it.  Found out the house wiring wasn't quite up to code while he was at it, so that may be the next home improvement project....
