It's winter again.  For today, anyway.  45 degrees and a really cold north wind.  I'll second that "Nony shut the damn gate" request.  Tomorrow will be in the high 70s and raining, then it will seesaw between 30s and 60s all next week.  Been a very strange winter this year.

Onepoint

sounds like us, except any meaningful moisture and less about 30 degrees.

Quote.  Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:
City of Edmonton - St. Albert - Sherwood Park
Extremely cold wind chill values between minus 40 and minus 45 are expected tonight.

Wind chill values will moderate somewhat during the daytime hours.

These extremely cold wind chills will continue into early next week before coming to an end.

Enjoy the warm weather you have down there in the tropics....

Onepoint

We had a little of that last week or so, not so much that it was so cold, it was just around 5 to 0, but we had 50+ mph wind with it for a few hours, which is actually kind of rare when its that cold, usually the wind brings warmer temps with it so it feels just as cold.  It's teens now but calm and sunny, doesn't feel all that bad out.

We were down to -10° the other morning. Having come out of that we're expecting another round of it this week. From Canada. Of course. This is our 4th winter in CO, so far no two even close to the same. Our first was darn near tropical. I'd love to have that one every year.

After that first 9 seconds and ensuing 3-1 loss by  the Canadian hockey team last night,  you'd almost think this weather is some kind of....revenge...😳

Onepoint

Ugh, -24 wind chill this morning, and straight out of the east which is the worst direction, most shed face east or south so not much protection for critters, fortunately the house and out buildings is blocking most of it for them, also have about 4" of snow looks like, piled up to 7 or 8" drifts mostly.  Winter sucks

Ditto that!  52 degrees right now, but it'll be in the mid 20s tonight with wind chills in the who knows how low range.  We have it better than most of you, but it hits us just as hard because we are neither prepared for or used to this kind of thing.

Winter can end any day now.

Onepoint

Never really warmed up, got to +4 for less than an hour, then back to zero and now -5 when the sun went down, and the relentless east wind.  On top of that they blew the forecast on snow, we have about 7 to 8" with 2'drifts in places, its so cold its dry snow, but still a PITA.  Looks like another day of it and then it starts to move out, they predict maybe 60 next week.

46 when we got up this morning, then about 10:00 wind turned out of the north and temp started dropping. It is 15 right now with a predicted low of 9 in the morning. High to tomorrow is supposed to be 22.

Onepoint

Who would think I would be thankful its only -5, but here I am.    :icon_neutral:   That's about 5 or 6 more than they predicted, and thankfully there is no wind, still light snow coming down.  Supposed to be 11 today. Some time this morning I will have to go plug the tractor in and feed today, cold like this it has warm for a couple hours and run for 20 minutes or more before the hydraulics free up enough to turn or lift the loader.  I'm just glad I'm not calving yet, I imagine many are having losses right now in this bitter stuff.

wtxsflyr

This weather is exactly why i moved my calving back to October, November.

Onepoint

We pushed ours back to late Mar/ April, still might get some cold, but not this bitter stuff.

jetmex

It actually got above freezing today, 40 degrees.  Going to be another 20 degree night before it starts warming up.  Still need someone to shut that gate up in the great white north, though....

Coming out of the latest poke in the eye, weather-wise. 16° this morning, 3 & a half inches shy of predicted snow, forecast high today 40°, just goes up from here.

But we got wind, 20mph this morning and gusting to 35, suppose to get stronger as the day goes on.

I know you guys are dying to know: NO. Golf. Today. The courses here are all 9 4s in Colorado Springs 😭

QuoteI know you guys are dying to know: NO. Golf. Today.

No golf??  Say it ain't so!!  That could be the sport of the decade - Schnitt Golf!!  Clubs with scnhitt shovel heads, schnittmobiles for carts, a Super Soaker to freeze the greens for putts, twenty foot poles with the little flags on them to mark where the holes are, and ground penetrating radar to find your balls after you shank them into a schnittbank!  I might even pay to watch that!   :icon_mrgreen:  :icon_mrgreen:

38 degrees and windy....
