Thanks for the glove advice, everyone.  I'm not looking for work gloves per se, just something to keep the wind and cold off while I'm out wandering around.  If there's anything to be done, my gloves come off as well, Honcho.  They just tend to get in the way and I can't feel anything wearing them.

42 degrees now, a lot of the schnitt is gone and the roads are clear. Should be back in the 60s by the weekend. Schools and airports reopen tomorrow.  I'm right on the approach to IAH and haven't seen an airplane going over in three days.  That was a little weird.

Not that Jaime would have the metal things hunt him like stuff does around here, like hay feeders etc, but I had a pair similar to those diving gloves several years ago I bought for breaking ice out of the stock tanks. I thought it would be great to be able to grab the ice and throw it out instead of wrestle chunks out with a pitch fork and not freeze your hands.  One of the cases of theory and practice being 2 different things.

I opened a barbwire gate and caught it on the 1st day so had a little hole off the bat, then about the 2nd or 3rd time wearing them on a particularly cold sub zero day I chopped out ice chucks, got them wet and they stuck on a steel panel I grabbed and instantly froze to it, then I ripped them for good getting them off. I laugh now, but I had some pretty colorful language at the moment, especially finishing feeding with no gloves.

None of that will be an issue for you Jaime, you should check them out.

I think I will, Honcho.

The metal objects that chased me around were more like propellers, turbine blades, pitot tubes, antennas (running into one of those without seeing it gives you a whole new perspective on all sorts of things) wing leading and trailing edges and heavy stuff like CSD's, tires, brakes and generators.  Never got stuck to anything, but I did fall off a DC-3 one sleeting night late last century in Dallas while trying to service the oil. It iced up under my feet and when I tried to shift my weight, down I went. At least I fell off the low end.  Never knew before then it could rain when the temps were below freezing...

What a difference a few days makes.  We went from freezing schnitt to warm and raining.  65 degrees and pouring right now, supposed to rain until Thursday or Friday.  Won't need those gloves for a little while longer... :icon_lol:

Snow on & off today. "They" claim it'll get up to 40° at some point.
Tomorrow: 51°
Saturday: 55°
Sunday: 60°
Then it's forecast for low to mid 60s for the bulk of the week.

Nuts, I tell ya, the weather is nuts.

86 here today, and 80's for the rest of the week.  It's this hot in February, I don't see me surviving July and August!

Onepoint

We were pretty warm, but really windy day before yesterday, then yesterday it barely got to 30 and wind, single digit windchill all day, -3 wind chill and 13 this morning so far.  But dry as a bone, if we don't get some serious moisture the next couple months we are in real trouble around here.  We have sand drifts already.  :sadness:

No cold for now.  It's been beautiful the last few days, temps in the low 80s and sunny.  It's supposed to cool off to "normal" next week, but I'll take this as long as it lasts!

Two weeks ago, the leaves finally fell off the tree in my backyard.  Now they're coming back.  81 degrees right now, this is what winter here should be!  There were two cold fronts headed this way that were supposed to hit us over the weekend, but they are stalled and moving northeast.  It will be a little cooler, but at least there won't be any more schnitt!!

81 here this time yesterday, now it's 39!!!!

Onepoint

66 the day before, 30 and crisp yesterday, 41 and windy now, and then the bottom falls out for a few days, 20 or teens for highs and near nuthin or below for lows and chance of snow everyday until Thursday or so.

18 degrees here this morning! NONY! Shut the damn gate !!!!!   please?

Yuh, -9° crispy ones here in the Springs this morning. Went out in 3° yesterday to get Terrin's car serviced, gonna wind up over $1500 when they're done.

I miss my shade tree guy back home...so does my wallet.

Onepoint

We had several days of cold, low 20s or teens for highs, nuthin on the bottom end, wind chills were down -10s, yesterday it warmed up a little, getting to almost 30, now we are at 25 at 5:30 this morning, so there is hope I won't mutate to grow a fur coat like a buffalo yet.

Oops, I looked at teh forcast for next week, round 2 of the same, I guess I will stay warm chopping wood.  :eusa_wall:
