Got to do some more of that flying stuff on Tuesday. Weather was nice and clear, but windy. We went out to Northwest RC's field in west Houston, which I swear was about halfway to El Paso from my place. Nice field, though. They have a pond to fly float planes from, and half the fun is shooing the cows off the road that leads into the field as you drive in.
I flew the Corsair for the first time. Another good solid airplane, only needed a click of up trim on the elevator, and no aileron trim at all. It flew like a bigger airplane, similar to the PZ Wildcat. She bounced around a little in the wind, though, as it doesn't weigh much. The flight was fine until I landed. I got too slow on approach and she dropped in from about three feet. Broke the prop and a chunk out of the fuselage. I'd have been ok if had carried a little more power, I actually had the airplane hovering above the runway for a few seconds. Shoulda gone around.... :eusa_wall: But, being a beer cooler airplane, it only took ten minutes to repair once I got home. Of course, I didn't have a spare prop, so I'll have to go to the hobby shop to get one. Darn... :icon_mrgreen:
