A little background - Biggs Army Airfield used to be Biggs AFB, which was home to SAC's 95th Bomb Wing. They operated B-36's, B-47's and B-52's from there for over a decade. You'll notice that all of those aircraft were capable of carrying nuclear weapons, which were stored and assembled in the bunker mentioned in the story, as well as several others in that area. The Army claims not to have known and that the Air Force didn't tell them. I find that really amusing, because everyone else did! It'll be fun to see if the lawsuits start now that the local politicians have gotten into the act...
