I know tomorrow is Veterans Day down thar....up here it is called Remembrance Day and it is a big deal remembering those who brought an end to the First World War 96 years ago, and of course, remembering and giving thanks to all those that served..
During his Honeymoon in Europe, my son visited Vimy Ridge - the scene of a bloody and costly campaign by Canadian troops (we won..).
Trenches and gun positions have been preserved, as have the mounds of earth dislodged by constant shelling on both sides. He was so moved by the eerie experience of being there and seeing all the grave markers (a member of my wife's family lies there somewhere....) He put together this moving video....

What a great video.
Visiting battlefields anywhere is kind of a somber experience. Been to several Indian war battlefields in WY and MT.
yeah, I've been to Little Big Horn twice, and to a fort on the Great Lakes ...definitely not a "normal" feeling place knowing the previous history....
