I saw the news about Houston flooding, I hope you do not have a new house boat. :eek5:
Yah, then there's Roger & Carl. I have friends at the kerrville folk festival who're putting the stages on pontoons right now. My buddy in Devine tells me the entire state is under a flood watch or warning or some apocalyptic ide...
Stay dry guys!!
Definitely wet here is west central Texas, so far this month we have had over 14 inches of rain! My stock tank is fuller than I have ever seen it. The garden is about to become water logged. Has been some severe weather around us, but we have managed to escape with out any damage.
We have not had 14" but are rolling up on over 6" in the last couple weeks. Its about as wet and sloppy here as it ever gets, the rivers and creeks are flooding here, but nothing major so far.
I hope Roger is faring well, I heard Austin is flooding too and I think he is not too far out of it.
5 & 1/4" here in the last ten days, but we had all of that last summer, so for us it's a good thing. "They" tell us we're still in a drought, but I don't think these weatherheads see beyond what their idiot computers show them. Our sump hadn't run for over a year and it's kicking off every hour or so now. Gotta be ground water for that...
We're OK here. All the tanks are full and the ground saturated. Doesn't take much rain to cause the local creeks to go over their banks. Only about 9 - 10 inches in the last week. Course that's more than we had in the last two years.
Hot and dry up here.....lots of wildfires.......
Hot and dry here also, but no wildfire yet. :eusa_pray: :eusa_pray:
We almost has a day without any rain, but a thunderstorm just before dark fixed that oversight. :eusa_wall:
We had a storm roll in yesterday evening also. Started raining at 6, had 5 inches by 8:30, and finally quit after 6 inches. That makes 20 inches for the month, and 32.5 inches for the year, surpassing our total rainfall for all of last year.
Uhg, we had another 1.5" yesterday, but nothing like that.
We are getting close on the rain total we get all summer usually, just in May. Though I am glad this was not a month or 2 ago in the form of snow, I would still be digging out. The flooding is getting more serious now though. The little creek just a couple miles north of us which usually is 6 to 8' across is about 50 yards wide and washing banks out bad. The North Platte river is over the banks at Ft Laramie and threatening buildings I hear. We had some bad flooding in 2010, this is starting to look close to that, in fact the record for high water was set in 73, and they are within a foot of that now.
Officially we have had just under 6" this month, but I have dumped almost 6.5" out of my rain gauge so far, and that didn't count the 14" of snow that didn't show in it, I figure we have had almost 8" of wet this May, and we usually get 13" all year.
Hey everyone! Sorry I've been AWOL so long, been a bit busy out here the past few months.
We are high and dry. Since the upscale neighborhoods went in all around us, the drainage situation has improved dramatically, so we don't flood much any more. Guess all those rich people don't like water running through their houses, either! We had 15 inches of rain at the house the last week in May, three inches this past week, and it's forecast to rain today. Good thing is I haven't had to water either the lawn or the tree we just planted to replace the ones we lost during Ike. The San Jacinto river just north of us is running higher than I've ever seen it, the people who live along Lake Houston wake up every morning and check to see if their boat docks are under water. Anybody need any mosquitos?
I also found that my scuba regulator doesn't work too well when it gets toothpaste in it...... :sadness:
Great to hear, I was thinking you maybe just had not mastered underwater typing or something. :)
Wow, we are in the unique position of needing the rain. Hot, like mid 90's, and dry here with no end in sight. Wild fire are up in the area too. Seattle had over 500 fire responses on the 4th, compared to 200 the year before. Some idiots can't remember it is tinder dry out there. :eusa_wall:
The way things are going, we'll have to change our name from "the Evergreen State" to " The Everbrown State."

Started raining at about 6 this morning. Finally got a break and went to check the gauges. Just over 5.5 inches so far today! Abilene, about 35 miles to the west of us has received 7 plus inches, the most ever recorded for them in a single day.
I guess its safe to say your drought is over? What is that, like 386 inches this year so far? :)
A drought around here is any two consecutive days without rain! 7 inches around Abilene is a big deal, as that's the usual yearly rainfall total for that area....Are you ok out there, Carl?
The computer didn't work worth a damn while submerged, but the typewriter did. :icon_mrgreen:
We are fine, but a bit soggy! Received another 3 inches yesterday morning. Puts our total year to date at 42.9 inches.
We go from one extreme to the other - two hours ago it was hotter than Cindy Crawford in a hot tub. Then it rained for thirty minutes and the sun came back out, so now its humid as well. The joys of living in a swamp...
We dried out and heated up for a few days, but then yesterday had a high in the high 60s and light rain off and on all day, it was warmer today but we had a thunderboomer go through and dropped a 1/2" of rain in a few minutes. But I guess thats better than just a few miles south of us, when the cells rolled through yesterday they dumped 5" or rain and flooded roads.
Wow!! WE need the rain, but not quite that much at one time. A case of the 24 hour screaming drizzles would be nice for our dry area.
No water lately, but it's been a tad warm for the past few days. Got to 103 at the house yesterday, but the humidity is only 30% so it feels a lot like being back in the desert. If all you paleface northerners need a tan, come on down!
