Took the grandkids to the annual Wings Over Houston airshow last Sunday. I was needing my warbird fix pretty badly and I wasn't disappointed. Finally did it the right way and went early to get pictures so I could kick back later and enjoy the show. The Thunderbirds were the headliner this year, but the Breitling Jet Team put on a beautiful show flying L-39's. Weather was perfect, the kids had a great time and I can't wait until next year....

Nice!
We might be passing thru Houston near the end of January..The gals wanna go for a boat ride....
Oh yeah, a good fix indeed with lots of obscure stuff there to see too.
I don't think I'll ever get over the P40. Since before I can remember the sight of one puts me in a trance.
Nice pics Jaime!
Nony, if you have time while you're coming through, give me a buzz and we'll try to get together for dinner or lunch or whatever.
Stetto, the Aleutian Tiger P-40 was my favorite of those. That one is based here in Houston; it's a short tail K model. The Corsair is the one I worked on for a while after my friend Frank brought it up from El Salvador and is also now based here.
It was a good fix for sure. The Tora Tora Tora show generated so much smoke from the pyrotechnics that for a few minutes you couldn't see any of the planes going by.
Very nice pictures Jaime! I miss the big airshows...
What the heck was that U2 derived thing?
Plans are on hold at the moment, but if we get there, I will definitely give you a call.
Thanks, Nony!
The "U2 thing" is actually a Martin WB-57, known to the queen's subjects as a Canberra. It's a high altitude modification of the B-57 light bomber originally for photo recon, though NASA uses theirs for weather research and atmospheric sampling missions.
