Title: I should know not to complain
Post by: Onepoint on February 26, 2016, 07:47:46 AM
Here I was talking about our great mandated insurance, and got to use it yesterday.  Vicki come hobbling doing morning chores, could not walk, her right leg was so painful she could not put any weight on it, could not even lift it under her own power for that matter.  She tried an epsom salt bath and  couple other things with no respite, so being you can't just call a regular doctor and get in anymore, off the to the ER we go.  :eusa_wall:

Ultrasound  and full blood workup later they decided its not a blood clot or tumor or infection, its 'probably' sciatic nerve pain.  6 hours and several thousand dollars later to find that out, and they send her home with some  noneffective hyrdocodone pain pills,  and note off work for 5 days.

And let me tell you, broach the subject of Obama care in there and you get a lot of frowny stone faces with "I would like to say something but better not".  Understaffed, over priced, quality of care slipping.  Looks like it was doing as designed, to collapse the medical care system.

Oh sh*t man, I sure hope Vicki's ok. We know the "thousands of $$ in tests" stuff, went through 6 hours of it on Monday.

Terrin is slowly feeling better, mostly just sore, but it's like cat herding keeping her off her feet.

I hope those who believe this kind of stuff happens in 3s are wrong....

You know, Honcho, same thing happened to Pat a few weeks ago.  She came in hobbling one day, next day she was crying because it hurt so bad.  Same deal as yours - off to the emergency room to check for clots, bone breaks, etc.  There were ultrasounds, X-rays, you name it.  They didn't find anything either and a few days later, Pat was fine.  We still haven't gotten the bill for that yet.

Obamacrap has affected our insurance from the company as well.  We changed carriers, so the rates and copays all went up, but if you get a health screening and submit the results, you get a debit card to use for your deductibles.  We lost about half of the doctors we could see, some of the others haven't decided whether they're going to accept the new insurance yet. The red tape is unbelievable and I know somehow we're getting screwed on this deal but haven't sat down yet to figure out where.

Hope Vicki and Terrin are doing ok now!

She is still really sore, and barely hobbling around, but she is improving a little.  Which is good, we go to Cheyenne tomorrow for Kaylas Birthday, so I hope its not going to be miserable for her.   I suppose there is no way around it.  We hada neighbor who woke up with  a leg just killing hom, before he could get to the doc, a blood clot moved and killed him in his house, so you have to rule pout that stuff.   Still I had better care when I got hurt, and it was easier dealing with the financial end too.

Not so bad up here other than waiting 5 or 6 hours to see a doctor.. The few doctors we have are all from off-shore (mostly South Africa). Seems that most new graduating doctors head south to the US 'cause they can make more money down there....

Almost all the GP docs around here now speak a broken English that is very hard to understand. The guys we used to have have mostly moved on, not sure where to. I sometimes wonder if these are H1b (?) Replacements like was done to Disney personnel.

Like I said in another thread, we spent 6 hours performing  tests on Terrin last Monday just to confirm what they claimed they already knew. Our ObamaScare deductible is almost $7000 per person. For the first time in my life we talked about food stamps this last weekend.

Oh, and we too have TASC cards, but they're tied directly to our bank accounts and it's still an interest free loan to the government until the next tax season, IF you itemize.

The feeling of isolation and vulnerability shouldn't be necessary. Some adults in charge would be a welcome change.
