Title: New Teef
Post by: stetto on October 12, 2022, 09:01:03 AM
They're bolt-ins, the uppers are Temps till the gum heals, and yeah, about 2x too big. But it's only been one day, I have a positive outlook!

I'm going to have to do something about mine, missing most of the molars anymore, between the eyes, ears, teeth aches and pains I might suspect I'm getting old.

Well, I'm eating mashed potatoes, oatmeal and puréed Spam for the next couple of weeks, but the future is looking great for a nice slab of brisket and an ear of corn!!

You should see the fistfull of pills I gotta take.

Getting old does suck, but some of the remedies are an adventure!!

What a process! I knew I'd be sore and swollen, but this morning my lips won't stretch enough to get these buggers in!.

It's only day four, I can't wait for day 14, or 44. Tramadol has been my constant companion this week! They adjusted the uppers yesterday, the bite is much better and the gouging has stopped, but that palate is like a kevlar plate. Thank God it's temporary...I discovered Aquaphor at the drugstore this morning. Kicks Carmex's butt.

...Oh, and I talk funny...

Mom got dentures last year, took her about 6 months to get used to them where they didn't hurt. In her case she had only about 6 teeth, so had some bone loss which didn't help the fit.

Yuh, the pick is from the end of day 1, after the bleeding quit.

Today the bruising is showing. No pic, you'll have to trust me.

Been through worse though, had my right shoulder reconstructed 10 years back. THAT was a painful recovery!!

😂😅😂.  Good thing I read this before I had my morning coffee, or it would have geysered out my nose!!  That was funny stuff, Jaime!

Thanks for sharing your adventure Stetto......gives me lots of incentive to keep my choppers!......now, where is that dental floss??

I commend you, Nony. Although I was nowhere near attentive to my teeth through most of my life, that my Dad had told me tooth loss and gum recession was hereditary in his family did nothing to motivate me. I do NOT tell my kids that, simply to take extreme care to brush, floss and see a dentist regular.

My first week passed two days ago, the stitches finally get removed on Nov. 1. My tongue keeps messing with loose ones, I've actually tugged 3 half-inch lengths out in the last few days. It looks like Berkely fishing line, around 8 lb. test...

So then, on Monday, July 17, They installed my "final" denture. After !0 months of pain, anguish and dietary limbo I can bite, chew, talk and open wide without the uppers simply falling out. No pain, no sores or pinching. My first meal was a brat with everything on it. And chips & salsa. Theses are nothing like the clown teeth I'd been fitted with first.

They feel wonderful. Yet I refuse to recommend Renew to ANYBODY for the fact of those 10 months. It's a chunk of dough and I hear they no longer do the "final set".

Now to find some fresh corn on the cob for Sunday vittles...
