Well, it's been a long story, but Cindy and I have retired around two years ago. Our oldest daughter has been living in the Kansas City area for around 20 years and had been working on us to retire there. She also bribed us by saying she is willing to "take care" of us when we might need it.
Well, that happened. So we are in the De Soto city limits, but outside of town. I have to say it is kind of nice to have access to whatever we need 20 minutes or less. Back in Tribune, when we needed something it normally was 65 miles north to a Walmart and McDonald's, or 90 miles to a Sam's, parts dealers, etc. That mileage is one way I might add.
Been lurking on the boards and trying to keep up a little bit. I haven't flown in several years as the farming was just too busy to do it, and I was too tired. My brother in law had a bad accident and left the farming to me and his daughter. Anyway brother in laws family and us decided to call it off. Ha, there is a model airplane field maybe a mile from me. Maybe some day but for now I find enough to keep me busy.
Iff'n you guys ever come to KC area, look us up.
Wow Ron, I didn't know they allowed farmers to retire. Sorry you ended up in KC though. :icon_razz:
Yeah it is nice to not have to drive far to get to anywhere, We do have Walmart and shopping and parts local to us, within 25 miles anyway and that makes it less hassle than spending half the day driving. We still do Costco runs to Ft Collins, but God I hate it down there anymore, its waaaaay too peoplely.
Hey Ron, it sure has been a minute! Glad to know you two are doing alright.
Good to hear from you Frazz. I retired and started farming!!!! :'( :'(
Frazz! It's been a good while, glad to hear you're doing well! I retired 5 years ago and don't regret it one bit!
I don't fly anymore either. The fun to cost ratio got waaay out of whack and being older, standing in 98 degree 137% humidity is no longer my idea of a good time.
BTW - out here, they pronounce what we are as "retard".... :disturbed:
