On my 5 mile walk this morning I happened upon the Holy Grail of small engine repair tools: a 4 inch TEN MILLIMETER BOX WRENCH, fully intact, no rust, no grime, just clean, chrome metric good luck charm, sitting on the side of the road!!
I dunno if I should toss it into a toolbox or wear it around my neck... :disturbed:

Thanks for that Jaime, I'll save that info for the eventuality. Right now my peoples, who I've known since my band days in the 80s, are only charging me for electricity. I'm donating time and what little muscle and construction knowledge I may or not have helping them build their house. When that's done my tenure here may end...
Well hell, the Stettoman is down to 50% today. I rebuilt the fuel system in my 10+ years old Cub weed whip and tore up my right shoulder when she caught compression when pulling the starter.
I had that rotator cuff done about 15 years ago, I'm praying it's no more than a muscle tear. Commenced the prednisone an hour ago...think good words for me, my brothers. Besides too old I ain't got time for this.
Ow, one winged dove stuff isn't fun at any age.

Prednisone is amazing. I'm sure the cuff is ok, must've torn some muscle inside. It doesn't take much to feel like you just shot yourself.
But yeah, improvement is occurring.

One year I was doing my annual clearing of hunting trails behind Thee Olde Man's house and tried to pick up a dead fall ash trunk, around 2' round at the stump, to move it off the trail. I didn't know it was frozen to the ground. Yes, I lifted with my legs, but my arms were fully extended. I did a jerk maneuver and ruptured my distal bicep tendon. THAT felt like what I would equate to being shot. My vision literally went black for 5 seconds and my bicep immediately went up to my shoulder. A rough 6 months of reattachment and ensuing rehab later it was fine, but yeah, it felt like a round hit me in the arm.

I gotta stop and think about things before I do them now. Stuff we used to do routinely with no trouble isn't that way any more! What a time for the kids to be grown and gone.... :icon_lol:

I also have a bulk of R/C modeling inventory, kits, props, servos, props, tools, props, engines, props, engines and a GREAT many sundry parts, too much to list. Lots of Duke Fox's stuff, diesel and glow. Some of these have never been run. It's all gotta land somewhere... :eusa_doh:

I appreciate the support guys, but I'll say this much: though it was a pretty rough January, February and March, I'm doing great with the knowledge that my friendship with Terrin is still as stout as it ever was, and there's no sign of that changing. Ill take that over losing her completely.
So yeah, huge adjustment period ongoing, and I have moments now and then, but the Stettoman is good, and slowly moving forward...although yeah, I'm too old for this sh*t :disturbed:
Oh, and the PuddinFace is pulling a dammed 4.0 in college!!!
I'm getting more established here in Harwood every day. They have me mowing with the Kubota dragging a brush hog and I've stomped a half dozen scorpions so far. I borrowed some lumber from the lord of the land and built myself a porchlette, 44 by 91 inches. It fits...I'll see if the Honcho will post pics.

I have a ground squirrel problem here in my front yardlette. Got some Tomcat poison. Time to feed the little bastiges.
My host hit the big 4-0 yesterday trapping pocket gophers. The property looks clean an clear for the first time since I moved out here.
He used a trap called a 'gopher hawk'. I wish I had some of those when I was a kid trapping for the 60 cent bounty.
My little front yard has been invaded by meadow voles, leaving raised trails in the dirt a la the old Bugs Bunny cartoons. Too shallow for gopher hawk traps, im gonna have to get inventive with Tomcat bait...

Weather aside, I'm told that scorpion season is fairly short and being as I haven't seen any in a few weeks, and since the last week of July danged few houseflies, ill take it. The fire ants haven't thinned out a bit though, and my whiptail lizard population has grown to where they're laying eggs on my little 4X5 foot porch. I haven't gone out barefoot since parking my little house here.
Today's wakeup call was an 18" juvenile copperhead sticking out from under the trailer. He scooted off by the time I'd grabbed a shovel, so now I've got a better reason to watch my every step outside.
I'm trying to "save" gas money on a fixed income, little progress so far. I've promised myself a trip to (H)umble, but budgeting is a challenge so far. I'll get there, Jaime. Sooner or later!
Meanwhile we're continuing the fencing project, still drilling and setting railroad tie braces. My friend has a dose of mesothelioma, so understandably we take a lot of breaks. Two worn out old dufusses in their later 60s, what can possibly go wrong? :disturbed:
The PuddinFace continues to excel, 4.0+ and in 5 different brainiac honors societies and just received ANOTHER scholarship. And she has trademarked the PuddinFace name for a future business endeavor, at the time being a pastry/health food bakery.

Long story, but I've been kindly asked to move on. This dang-near 67 year old dufus has never pulled a trailer like this, and for some reason I'm terrified of the prospect. With all the stuff I have stored here, my old Ram 1500 may well be towing a uhaul behind the 20' Forest River.
I towed a 14' Alumacraft for some years, and a few trips with 8x10 uhauls, but I'm pretty sure that those apples don't relate to the pumpkin I'm in now.
Sucks to be Stetto today :sadness:

Moving day tomorrow. I found a decent little RURAL RV park about 15 miles south of here right on the Guadalupe River. At least I won't be living in a van... :disturbed:
Rent is low, lots of year-round tenants, still close enough that the PuddinFace can come down and go fishing with Pop like we did when she was a pup.
I really like where I am, and I'm grateful to my hosts for the 5+ months they gave me here. They're still close, and will continue storing belongings I can't haul around with me, and my porchlette is coming with me.
I'm feeling pretty neutral about the new digs, but there is every chance that this will turn out a positive turn of events.
Y'all can feel free to wish me luck! 8)

5 bar cell service. What a change from the occasional single bar I was getting northeast of Luling. Wifi is free and that too maintains a 4-5 bar strength. Haven't met any other residents yet, I'm sure they'll ooze out of the woodwork soon enough.
My trailers orientation is exactly the same, front door pointed north by northeast, and there quite a few more tall oaks providing morning & evening shade.
So far it's been pretty quiet, with the 5:30 am exodus of folks going to work. Perfect for me, I'm generally awake between 5 & 5:30 anyway.
Good place to sit, sulk and mull on what I want to do, if I decide to do anything. For now...
...here I am...
Probably would be nice to go sit by the river and mull things. Has a tendency to calm things down a bit.

So I stalked you a little bit, is that the River Acres RV park you landed at? Actually looks like a nice area, historic, not a lot of people, lots of shade, plus the river. Could be a lot worse, at least no gators or snow. :icon_smile:

Yep, that's the place. So far so good, took a short (2 mile) walk this morning, mighty serene from what I can tell so far. And the rent is right. From some of the front yards I've seen I don't think there's any threat of me being crowned the local kook :icon_mrgreen:
