Title: Ignernce Bein' Bliss an' All
Post by: stetto on February 22, 2010, 06:47:18 AM
We're getting to know the new house...Oh are we getting to know...

One of the windows started dripping water yesterday between the frame and the casing. I set up a bucket (the leak is directly over an electric heat register  :eek5: ) and took a look outside. Eeeeewwww...

We stopped using the kitchen entry this winter, and consequently I never thought to occasionally check the roof at that point. It is the same tie-in corner of the addition where we had the water service to the toilet freeze...

There looks to be around a ton of solid ice piled up on the gutter system, right in the corner, and it's found it's way under the eave and soffet...Solid, solid as in like a rock, as in S-O-L-id...Except where it's getting into the wall and thawing...

The drunk hillbilly engineer has struck again.

I think it's going to be an expensive Spring... :eusa_wall: :eusa_doh: :disturbed: :sadness: :'(

Jaime, I don't want to hear it...

Yeah,  that's not so good.  It would help if frickin winter would ever get over.  After a brief thaw, we got another 12" and single digit temps and we are going to start calving soon.

Temps are in the teens below again, after being "nice" for a couple weeks. So the softened ice damns are hardening up again--And expanding. Been up all night listening to God hammering in the rafters.

My 80 year old dad says this is the worst he's ever seen the ice. The temps have been fluctuating so wildly between storms that there's no way to keep up. I'm not the only one with problems. I think I may insatall a roof heater this summer. They look like crap, but at least they work.

Supposed to be in the thirties by the weekend.

Just take out all your attic insulation - that will serve the same purpose !!  :icon_biggrin:
