After waiting a bunch of years, I finally got myself an A2 leather flight jacket:

It's the current issue. I've been wanting one of these since I was a kid reading about Tex Hill and Donald Blakeslee and watching countless "!2 O'Clock High" reruns on TV a gazillion years ago. Seems kinda silly to think about that sometimes, but, what can I say? Only took 45 years or so....
It's hanging in the closet now next to my Vietnam era G1 jacket and the green CWU-45P that I wear when it gets cold. The A1 is a nice lightweight jacket, ought to work just fine for the usual autumns and winters around here. Trying to decide now if some nose art would look good on the back....
Cool! Nose art, tough call, hate to screw up a $200 jacket, but we all know how cool it was to see film clips of all the flyboys with their nose art on theirs. I am envious, I got hail. Funny I don't really recall ever really wanting it.
You know, Honcho, I was thinking the same thing after I had the idea. I probably won't, but if I find a cheap reproduction A2, all bets are off!!
We finally got some rain last night. Just enough to drop the temps from 98 to 96 and raise the humidity from 70 to 90%....
Yeah, but wouldn't this be fitting.

I was thinking more along these lines:

Well yeah actual nose art would be good too.
hey...don't forget that you're a Grampaw......you'd scar they young'uns for life if'n you wore that sort of "nose"art............... :disturbed:
Yeah, I was really digging this until that thought crossed my mind, beside the potential ears being boxed by the good woman everytime I wore it.

Wayne, I have a grandson. He's just going to have to learn about that stuff sooner or later. Probably later unless he sees the calendars in his dad's garage first.... :icon_mrgreen:
