..out of anybody?  How are you guys keeping with all the surprises that life throws our way???

Me, I finally finished a reno project!! It only took two and a half years...a new world speed record, I believe... We had a gas fireplace installed. Well, they installed it, but nothing else. Left me with a big gaping hole in the wall... had to stare at it everyday! Finally, the inertia was overcome, and with a free weekend with no family around, I got out the sanding blocks, drop cloth, paint, glue, tiles and what all...and got the darned thing finished. Now, with that tiny accomplishment in the books, I may just look for another long overdue project to finish off.......

Just been busy with haying, irrigating and chasing grasshoppers around and whatnot while avoiding the 100 degree afternoons as much as possible.   I did work on the runway and have planes working thropugh being cycled, it supposed to cool off the next couple days, so maybe I'll get a chance to put some air time in too.

It's been a while, hasn't it?

Just getting on with life.  My grandson is 5 months old now, getting better every day.  David got braces on his teeth the other day and hasn't gotten past the "oh s--t it hurts" stage yet.  Jimmy (the oldest) bought his first new car last week and immediately earned jeers from his sisters about finally having car payments.  Jessie quit her job to stay home with the baby, Danni's moving to a new place in a few weeks.

And there's a LOT of anxiety on the job over the merger with Untied.  No one here is looking forward to it, as Continental will cease to exist, and that's going to be hard to watch after all these years.  It wouldn't surprise me if our pensions and other benefits went away, and since Untied doesn't even have the position I work, I might go away, too.  We'll see.

Haven't looked at a model airplane in ages....

I haven't heard it call Untied for a long time...same with Crying Tigers....

My cousin flew 747s for Flying Tigers. He flew an Anchorage to Beijing route. He says it wasn't as fun as it sounds. He got to spend a week or more at a time in China, but alas, the Chinese made him stay in his hotel room the whole time. All American pilots are spies, you see...

Me? Y'all know what I'm up to. I used to spend an hour or more every day online, now down to 10 or 20 minutes most days. Just not keeping up with the real stuff.

Hey Guys,

Been trying to logon for about 3 weeks now,  just couldn't figure out what happened.  Honcho got it figured out this evening and we are now back on line.  I decided that after a year off, working around the house, hunting every chance I got, that it was time to do something that would make me some mad money.  I leased my pickup and gooseneck trailer out to ACME truck lines and have been staying fairly busy.  Here are a few pics of some loads that I have hauled.

A load of shipping crates from Houston to New Braunfels.

A skid mounted wireline unit from a drilling rig to Waco.

A set of gears from a concrete plant that weighed 12,000 lbs and was delivered on the shores of Lake Erie in Euclid, OH

A cementing head and controls from a drilling rig down by Laredo, delivered to Houma, LA

Been having fun, most of the trips I have been able to turn in 1 day, but a few I have had to stay in a hotel.

Hope everyone is doing great,

Carl

What is this 'making money' you speak of?  Sounds interesting, I may have to try that someday.

ha ha ha... I recall the concept before I "retired"... :icon_biggrin:

Nice rig there, Carl. There are quite a few goosenecks in this area, though the trailers are quite a bit smaller. They feed all kinds of parts to the oil industry..
