And just now a pair of B-1 bombers flew over. I thought they were mothballed in the 90s.

Don't tell that to Dyess AFB here in Abilene.  They are one of the B1's bases.   Along with Ellsworth, Andrews, and Mc Connell.

Onepoint

Naw, heck the ones out of Ellsworth, went down to Dyess with their airwing and launched from there to do some airstrikes with them on Iranian Quds force in Iraq and Syria last year.  Funny How the "He's going to start WW3!" chanters weren't making noise then.

I had to take Mom down to Cheyenne for laser eye surgery on Monday, F16s were making simulated runs on the airport runway is all I can figure, they weren't doing touch and goes, at least 3 of them would come down low fly just off the deck, I never saw wheels down, then turnout out burn hard and climb hard to pattern altitude, come around immediately and do it again, did it several times.   I don't know, maybe a general wanted an airshow or something.  Was cool to watch anyway, what little I could see.

Anyway, we had a teaser throwback to spring yesterday, rain at 5am, and barely made 70, didn't get much, couple tenths, which is fine because someone still has hay down. Once again we got lucky, missed the down pours and huge hail and twisty wind others got, But the next few days has us in triple digits they tell us.

Good to know the AF has everything under control.

We had to have gotten an inch or more yesterday. Lots of hail too. Tornadoes in the mountains even. Woodland Park & Divide both had close calls.

Onepoint

Whew, had a scorcher yesterday, 104 for several hours and a 25 mph wind.  90s this weekend then supposedly going to drop back into the 70s Monday, and then a string of days with thunderstorms and showers, but man it cooked off all the moisture we had hanging around in all but the deep ponds.

stetto

We got to 98 here. The A/C quit at around noon.

Onepoint

Since I haven't complained about the weather lately...

It's been hot and dry, but the last week or so has been weird, triple digits or near for a string of days, and one of low 80s, then back up hot again. Today in fact only supposed to be low 70s, with possible showers, I will believe the showers part when I see it. This time of year I almost would rather skip it unless its set in rain, t6hunderstorms bring the hard version, and twisty wind. But we went from a relatively wet late spring back to drought and any rain would be appreciated.

Already the middle of July too, how'ed that happen?

In two weeks I'll be whining about the weather in yet another state. The wife has officially declared that she is not a "stationary soul". I am greatly a'feared for my sanity. Yet the Dude shall abide...

You guys & dolls should come up to to the gold fields this weekend. Weather will be 60s-70s up there. 'Sides, you know one of the rock stars!

Onepoint

I would, but I'm chained to the plantation. Besides I would sit in the back and heckle you anyway.   :disturbed:

97 degrees and 136% humidity right now.  It's been thunderstorming nearly every day like clockwork about 3 or 4 in the afternoon, but right now it's just thundering and windy.  It'll rain for about half an hour and then the sun comes back out and starts baking everything again...

wtxsflyr

100 right now with 52% humidity! Heat index 117🥵!  Been trying the whole month to get 3 days in a row with no rain. Hopefully tomorrow I can get hay cut.

Onepoint

There were dead on yester day, about 73 for a hihg and a couple rain showers that didn't do much but keep it humid.  Its down right cool this morning 57 with a 20mph breeze, I left the window open in the living room and all the dogs were giving me crusty looks when I came out.

Better enjoy it, looks like low 90s until Sunday then high 90s for the foreseeable.

I need to start cutting hay too, but have only irrigated about half so far, going to be strung out now with me cutting one end and irrigating the other.

jetmex

97 and some clouds.  The humidity has gone down a bit, so now it takes me five minutes outside to get soaking wet instead of five seconds.  Haven't yet decided if that's an improvement...

jetmex

Two inches of rain yesterday and more on the way.  Didn't cool down much, though...

stetto

We get high 80s & mid 90s pretty consistently here, but humidity is stupid low. Right now for instance it's 87° with 21% humidity.

I'm expecting to require acclimation. Just remember I was raised in the lake infested north of MN where humidity was near zero through January and February,  and close to 💯 through June and July.
