Spoke too soon - it's raining now.  First time in quite a while.  Cooled off a bit to 87.

Actually TODAY is the first full day of autumn. It started yesterday afternoon sometime, but I've rarely had occasion to note the "change" on that date. For instance, we're forecast to be 100° today, with 80s and potentially up to an inch of sn-er, rain tomorrow. Then back to our regularly scheduled heatwave immediately thereafter.

BTW, I'm not sure I told you guys: The PuddinFace started college a couple weeks ago at Austin Community. She wants to be a pastry chef...and here she is, allergic to both gluten and dairy...🤢

We got 9/10's early this morning!  High yesterday was 103, today it was 83.

stetto

Well, whaddaya know!

95° right now, quite severely clear, and just 23% humidity...definitely a bit of alright!

Fall is arriving, albeit grudgingly.  87 here right now after a beautiful 68 degree morning. Still a little humid, but not nearly as bad as it has been.

Aaaaand bam, its October already.

Been pretty nice here lately, little breezy, clouds once in a while, going from mid 40s overnight to 80s for highs, supposed to be 90 tomorrow, I have gotten acclimated to the cool mornings already that mid eighties seem hot now.  But all in all its not been a bad fall so far. Going to get another taste of fallish weather this weekend, cool and showers, only 50s for high on Monday, then back up, but only 70s.  Every hiccup in the weather seems to take the highs down a notch now.

I am almost done with hay for the year, hopefully before Saturday, which is good, its always a gamble cutting late September on.  I have had years I cut in late Sept and had to have it lay for 3 weeks waiting for it to dry between rain and snow showers.

We didn't get rains in September like we normally do, so no second cutting of hay for me.  Turned the mama cows and the babies we have had so far in to the hayfield yesterday.

32 straight days of zero rain in Travis County.

...that is all...

We haven't had rain here in Uhhmmble for quite a while and drought warnings and burn bans are being issued.  Not unusual for a desert rat like me, but all the green grass yard people are not happy.  The upside is the humidity has been almost non-existent for the last few weeks, so it's been really nice.  Lows in the 60s, highs in the low 90s.

stetto

I agree, Jaime. But yeah, we got the green, front and back. It's Bermuda though, and I refuse to water weeds.

At least the pool is wet  :icon_mrgreen:

So do I, unfortunately.  St. Augustine and Virginia buttonweed.  I don't want to water any of it either (they're both non-native invasive species). I keep hoping it will all just die so I can desert landscape the yard, but I have yet to be that lucky.  The *&^$%#%*(!$ HOA probably won't let me do that anyway.... :disgust:

I hate yardwork, BTW.....

Well slowly but surely we creep out of the comfort zone. Highs have been 60s and even some low 70s, felt great but for wind once in a while.

Had a weird day a couple days ago, Woke up to 98% humidity and 50 degrees, not unheard of but it never burnt off or warmed up, the predicted 70s we barely hit 60, was foggy then hazy all day, but dead calm, had dew dripping all day until dew point got high enough in the late afternoon and  humidity got down to 90%.  It was like being in the coast, and there aint no dang beaches around here.  I don't know how you guys do it, I could sear the moss was growing on me already.

Now its back to normal mid fall, no snow yet, but 50 maybe today and a hard freeze tonight they say. It will be our 1st this year so far.

for the 1st time in I don't recall how long wood is scarce, starting to see some ads, but its higher than last year which was high anyway.  And after cutting some I decided I have too delicate a disposition to do much of that anymore, though I suspect attitude moderation will be when I am cold with a short wood pile.

Time to move to Texas, Honcho!  Carl, Stetto and I will be waiting for ya!  We're all getting too old for that winter s--t.....

Spent the last two days in Luling helping friends put up a asphalt shingle roof. We'd quit when the shingles started to get squishy underfoot. This morning woke to mid 70s with 100% humidity, heavy warm fog. My buddy has 10 acres of flat, wants to build a "compound" for like-minded folks to park an rv or even build on. 2 miles from Buc-ees. Went in there yesterday for ice ($1.99 for 16 pounds!) and it was completely
different since August. My mouth watered the whole time.

Supposed to start seeing 80s next week,  maybe some rain...and a drop in humidity!
