FUBAR
During WW2 the Army had a knack for using initials to shorten phrases.
GI's usually took this one step further and made whole new words of the initals of
Words from a sentence. Hence FUBAR -
"F****D UP BEYOND ALL RECOGNITION"
It seemed to be a frequent condition of our planes
Recently I had an email that said there was a slightly different version.
The AVG in China had service personal that had to improvise and cannibalize parts from other planes
And use hand labor to repair damage to runways.
FUBAR in this case to F****D UP BEYOND ALL REPAIR
Which amazingly still fit our planes at times
