Winter is here and, now that all the hatches are battened, I'm in the unusual position of having some free time to myself. That will change come spring, when I have a couple of bathrooms to renovate. Getting ready to sell this big ol' house and move into something more reasonable for our retirement years, hopefully next summer.
The kids are doing well. Our granddaughter just turned 2, and is talking up a storm. Junior is on his 3rd airline, as opportunities continue to fall his way. This time right seat in 767's. His first trip was to England this weekend. Daughter-in-law is in public relations for an oil company and has spent a lot of time in meetings down in Houston. (I think she is down there now..)
Most of the folks we hang out with head south for the winter (chickens!).....not us! The winters are not so bad, (well, most of the time.....). It sure makes you appreciate spring and summer when they arrive.
This coming year will be a challenge as we start weeding through all the stuff we have accumulated and start downsizing..I'd like to say I have a plan in place, but we will be winging it....Pam and I made it this far together, I'm sure we will figure things out as we go......
Still planning the road trip, though....
Well, Nony, you could have kept that winter thing up there where it belongs. This part of the south got pretty cold and will get colder before the sun comes back next week. Close the door!!
We paid off our house a few years ago and are now getting all the mechanicals taken care of so I don't have to worry about any of that when I retire in a few years. House didn't seem big enough when all the kids were home, but now it's just about right. I'd love to move away from here (Houston has never been my favorite place), but the kids and grandkids are here and the better half has no intentions of leaving, so I guess I'm here for a while longer, or at least until the grandkids no longer think I'm cool! :icon_mrgreen:
Good luck with the move. It's amazing how much stuff you accumulate in a few decades, isn't it?
T and I have been talking about getting out of Minnesotakstan. I'd like to live in a place that no longer exists in this country and Terrin wants to be closer to where she grew up and the folks she grew up with.
No doubt we'll end up staying where we are, but I'm going to need a greenhouse, dammit.
Move south young man, for Minnesnowta is not one of the places we plan to annex when we secede... :eek5:
Hey WY has room still, but better hurry before we close doors and shut this realm to mortals forever more.

At least you are not in North Dakota.....so things can't be all that bad! 😂
