And here's Cyrano.  Both airplanes went to the boneyard a long time ago.  Methow got them a few years after the company I worked for went out of business.

Been a long time since I flew anything, so I'm probably sub-beginner by now!

I worked on Beech 18s for several years back in my traveling mechanic freight rat days.  Not normal Twin Beeches, though.  Ours were a mod called Hamilton Westwinds that had PT-6 turboprop engines instead of the usual R985s.  The extended noses made them look a little ridiculous, but they could haul some freight.  N432U was named Pinocchio, N926T was Cyrano. They were both instrumental in adding to my cache of bulls.....war stories!

But my biggest hitch isn't weather, but ambition and time, takes me a lot longer and more energy to do what needs done that I have little left for fun stuff, and it feels better to just sit in the AC.  But I still have all the RC stuff hanging in the way and still mow the runway just in case. 

 That is a cool plane though, I have a E-flite air tractor I have flown just a couple times. Sadly my skill level is down to barely trainers again.   

Aside from almost every airplane known,  I'm kind of wishing I had a Beech C18 hanging the in the way as well. 

Slogging through the summer here.  Its been hot until yesterday, had near 100 or better for 7 days straight until yesterday with a high of about 78 and some rain showers, picked up a couple tenths over night but came with thunder and the power went out a couple times, which woke me up since we are running fans at night.

My irrigation is off since yesterday morning. I ran out of water for the 1st time we have been here, about 32 years I think. Never have been able to use all my water share until this year.  We have had years where the ditch was shut down because of the tunnel collapse or one year they were working on a dam and could not store enough, but I always had water right to use if they could get it to me. They even had shut me out a couple days earlier than they said I had due to bad math I guess, but the ditch is getting shut down the 15th anyway, so I would have had only 4 or 5 days of water anyway.  A lot of the poorer fields and pasture didn't ever get wet, but I did hit the main fields pretty well and it shows now.  Not enough to make up for 1st cutting loss, but maybe won't have to buy multiple semi loads of hay.  And I guess I should be thankful, a ditch company across the border that serves north of the river they got 2 weeks of water is all since they opted to use their reserve water last year, some areas had none at all. 

Now we all get to start worrying about next year because reservoirs nearly empty if not dry altogether, and I am hearing talk they are going to divert part of our allocation down stream next season to keep cities going.

Just to give an idea how bad it is, Pathfinder reservoir in central WY is where we store and get our shares of water right from, its max capacity is 1,200,000 acre feet of water, normally is between 1,000,000 spring and 7-600,000 acre feet in fall after draw down, and I saw its has less than 200000' left and they have to keep releasing all winter for the North Platte river flow. 

Visually, the lake is in a canyon basin, steep walls in some places, with total depth to original river bed about 200' deep, they use elevation for water level measurement, full is 5,850 ft, current Level 5,786.1 ft and when they consider it dead and shut off all but river minimal output is 5746 ft. Between that which runs off east into the Missouri river, and Flaming Gorge reservoir which is the upper feed for the Colorado river, which they drained 30% off to lake Powell already, if we don't get a real winter, next year is going to make this one look like a picnic. If we face the same conditions we have now next year, we will see things none of us alive have been around to see since the dust bowl, like entire little towns abandoned because they dried up and Vegas going dark.

I bounce between worrying about that, and a Blizzard of 49 situation as nature tries a rebalance.

We are sheltering in place. Have had 100 plus for 12 or 13 days, and just saw on the news where we are forecast for at least another week above 100. No rain for over a month, none expected for a while.

A few months ago, good friend Wally asked me to do an RC bird for him.  The subject is the Legend Hobby (Seagull Models) 1/6 scale OA-1K Skyraider II.  The real thing is a ground attack version of the Air Tractor ag plane, which to me is a bit amusing.  118" wingspan, fixed gear, pretty simple airplane. It can be built as a crop duster as well.  I work on it in spurts as he starts to get me all the stuff I need to do it.  I'm a little rusty, but it is kinda nice to be doing that once more. I'm pretty much out of the hobby now, the fun to cost factor is way out of whack, and flying an airplane around in a circle while roasting outside just isn't fun anymore.

I did discover I have enough old radio stuff left over to convert my Lindberg Blue Devil destroyer kit to RC.  Just have to find a motor for it now.

Where is everyone?

Hot and more hot.  No hundreds this week, but a fair share of 98 and 99 degree days.  It rained for about three minutes a few days ago, and that's been about it.

Well happy anniversary, mi amigo!  Just think, in another year, you'll be saying "y'all" all the time, drinking Shiner Bock like it was water and wearing them funny pointy toed boots!  And it will still be 217% humidity and 100 degrees....at Christmas!

"We" passed the one year mark as Texans on August 1st. I remember it well, 217% humidity @ 100 degrees while offloading the truck, followed by a 15 minute downpour while at the liquor store looking for relief from unloading the truck. What a welcome! 

Its not going to get as hot as they said it was earlier this week, just 101 vs 107 or so, and then cool back down for a couple days next week. Its 99 right now. feels muggy but reads only 22% and more smoke rolling in again. It was down right wet this morning though, 80% until about 10ish. Must have some moisture coming up from the SW.
