That was ugly

I try not to rant about politics here much, its preaching to the choir, but that was truly ugly last night.

Texas is officially purple now, at best.  Abbott's out, that surprised me. Talarico won, which may not have surprised so much as it disgusts. A fake Christian? WTF?

NE held off much of the blue wave, but just barely, holding the GOP senate seat, but the hidden story behind that was it was much too close considering the supposed independent candidate that ran, funded and backed by democrats, won only 2 counties and still was within 6%, also similar to their governors race.  Both should have been easily won with no question.

WY still looks deep red on paper, but in reality the dems have succeeded is subverting the here GOP s into a coloradoesque "inclusive" party that likes big spending, corporate buddies and of course more taxes. WE had state wide property tax relief of 50%, on primary residence homes only, and it failed because a ton of money came from tax aided group to scare people their houses would burn down with out 100 million or so in a billions dollar budgets.  The threatened a state income tax if it passed, now they were already threatening one to pay for expanded Medicaid our gov elect has said he wants.  :icon_evil:

I think this shows the disconnection this country is suffering from, all the stuff they see is "somewhere else". So it sems their biggest worry is 4 dollar gas and expensive hamburger.  Not too surprising when the GOP has essentially squandered everything they were elected on, no SAFE act, which may have played a big part in this, which will eventually come out, but a war in Iran, a media blitz that has demonized deportation, and no real answer from the right despite story after story of illegals killing and raping all across the country. But the opposition branded themselves Radical Islam and socialist candidates hand in hand, and the only thing I can surmise is people just figured its not their problem.   :disgust:

As it is of right now, Dems have 54 seats in the senate, that is more than needed to push or repeal anything they want, since they have purged any moderate but one, and have taken the house already with 230 seats which was a significantly larger margin than the GOP has.  I can guarantee, they are not going to be limp wristed like the GOP was. They promised pay back, lawfare and removing MAGA from the country. The investigations will start next January, and in the mean time the bureaucrats will seek to secure their jobs in the next admin which everyone will assume to be dem.

Its not really a secret I'm not MAGA, frankly I always thought it was too moderate, but I sure as hell ain't what this country just lurched into.  Dark times ahead, plan accordingly.

I got nuthin.

The Texas situation will be dire, IMHO. I predict the reality will manifest far more blue than purple, including a taxing frenzy untenable to the Americans down here.

But observing the human nature aspect of several cycles past, this one surprises me not at all. The impeachment circus will again commence immediately after the radical leftists are seated, the outcome likely the opposite of railroads past.

The minions will feel emboldened and justified (not to mention increasingly encouraged), another dismal and dangerous example of the consequences of elections  :icon_evil:

Having lived in Harris county Texas for a good part of my life, I've already been living what the rest of the country is about to experience.  This place has never been republican, not that it matters because they've become just as bad as the democrats.  The county voted in a bunch of officials who have already said they will raise property taxes, though no one seemed to notice that.  It will all come around - even democrats don't like having their pockets picked. That might take a while as the low information voter is a common staple around here and stuff like that takes a long time to sink in.

As for the state, it was a matter of voting either for the lesser of two evils or the tool that might hurts us the least.  No one running here was worth what they spent on their campaigns.  But, we tend to be a rebellious lot, so things might not be as smooth as the dems might think.  Or at least that's what I hope.

As for Trump - he was one of the lesser of two evils.  I've never liked him much.  His mouth tends to override his brain way too often and he seems to have a huge problem listening to good advice if it didn't come from him.  His little war was a huge mistake, as was his telling all of us to pretend that he was on the ballot this election. I will admit he's done some good things, but then he wipes them all out by doing something stupid. The next two years will consist of congress trying to impeach him again, Trump telling congress how full of shit they are, and then this election crap will start all over again with many of the same idiots.  Strap in, it's going to be a hell of a ride.  One good thing to remember- the dems are badly fractured and have no real agenda nor any idea how they're going to manage said non-existent agenda.  Nor do they have any idea of how they're going to pay for it.  The old saying that socialism only works until it runs out of other people's money may well come to pass.  Problem with that is that it will be our money they want to use.

Meantime, I've decided that this is just history repeating itself.  We got through yomama, we'll get through this, though I suspect there will be some pain involved.  We mere citizens always seem to bear the brunt of all this.  So, I'll keep on keeping on, take care of my family, and take pride in knowing I have great friends all over the place.  Living your life and being successful in the face of all this is the best revenge.  That's really about all we can do...

I see the same reactions to getting politically stomped over and over again, "well we need dems to win so people will learn"

If I have learned anything it's people don't learn, people in fact, as a group, are the densest matter on the planet and can only agree to the very worst of common thinking which is gibme stuff for free.  They may talk differently but actions show other wise.  If that were true in any sense, just coming of Bidens admin would still be fresh enough for some to remember how dems govern rule.  But so long as they have that carrot dangling the mules will keep following dragging the cart.

What's funny is I was chatting with a Libertarian, Ron Paul guy, and he was the one who said it. I did mention that if people learned from poor political leadership choices, Libertarians would be running things long before now.  That devolved into a soft kind of argument about how we need to block Trump because a "neocon" war with Iran is the worst. Yeah, no. For one, Trump didn't start a war with Iran, Iran has declared war on us for 40 years.

As for Trumps action in Iran He gambled he could end it by cutting their head off and help them in a revolution, but Islam is a hydra full of people who gain too much power to just give it up and that branch of it is the worst in that respect.  And I don't know if I could fault him, if someone came to me and said we know where an entire group of our enemies are at a specific time and place, I think if in the same position the JDAMS would fly.  But the gamble lost, now is the consequence.

Anyway, as bad as that can be, its not our biggest worry here. Communists and Islam have allied and are making real gains. That's not hyperbole, its what they are telling us as they assume office.  The irony of being invaded by Somalia is almost amusing if it wasn't being so successful.

I keep thinking the real America has not spoken yet, but I wonder if we even have that will anymore. I suppose many like me are just trying to live our life like Jaimie said. And really that's all I want is to be left alone to do that. But at some point we are going to have to decide if this country is personally worth the effort and sacrifice to literally fight for.  I think a lot of us are waiting for some sort of clear instance where we go out and stand together in defense, but if we wait until its conveniently at our door, it's going to be a little late I'm afraid, especially in my case.

I do know that our founders didn't start out intending to start a new country and throw off a monarchy. They spent years in grievance that kept escalating from both sides, things we called patriotic rebellion were terrorism to the crown. Tarred and feathered officials, mini rebellions and insurrections all across the colonies, reprisals from the crown and its loyalists. Far different times and yet that is startlingly familiar to now.  The difference is now the movement growing is for the crown not against it, and both sides deeming themselves morally superior which justifies about anything.

Having said that, I know what is just, and right and wrong, and I also know those things get set aside in war, and that's what we are in right now, a contest of will punctuated by occasional violence.  I know what I will and will not do or abide. I also know I'm not going to seek confrontation, though we probably all should, and together.  But I can't help but think that will come at some point, and probably way too late to avoid the damage we could have.

The most curious realization I've had:

You notice when democrats win the vote doesn't take weeks to count?
