Ya gotta check this chick out--Her name is Beth Wood, she just did a performance at our house last Saturday, and hokey smokes Bullwinkle can she sing.

She did this Etta James tune (ok, not an Etta James tune, but Etta did it too and made it legendary), and the goosebumps are still raising the hair on my arms.
Sorry for the sound quality, but you'll get the idea...

See her if and when you can, she performs barefoot--I asked why, she says "I dunno, I just do".  :eusa_think:

Next week we got Butch Morgan coming to the house. THAT guy is a foot-stompin' good time...

pretty talented gal! I couldn't get the video to play properly on my phone, so had to wait til I sat down at a real computer to view it...........

...sure wish I had some musical talent....... :icon_cry:

Onepoint

Yeah, she has some quality, one of those natural singers.

stetto

You really should see her live if you ever get the chance. She refuses to wear shoes when she performs, and when she broke a string on her guitar she just picked mine up and kept going...Reminds me of a wild-eyed Emmy Lou Harris.

Someone had a vidcam at the concert---That's my guitar she's playing...

And last night, Butch Morgan

And LOOK! A mystery guest bass player (vid may follow soon)! Hilarious stuff--Bassist's face smudged on purpose to protect a really bad bass player...

Aw gad---I don't know why I keep forgetting Dave--He's played here as a headliner, with a duo, and as a sideman (Ronny Cox), I've started calling him "Bad Penny" Dave. But he's a fantastic singer/songwriter on his own...

Oh yeah, it was nice to play in front of people again--And yeah, he gave me so much shiite for not knowing a song I'd never played before...

But the video of this one I haven't seen yet, you saw it?

Onepoint

Whoops, I guess I wasn't supposed to see it, he locked it private.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuwFrnlSvp4  :sadness:

stetto

Well that stinks--At least you got to see it.

stetto

It's working again...Almost wish it wasn't.  :disturbed:

Onepoint

Heheh, it wasn't like it was that bad.  Besides its as much fun to watch those awkward moments as it is the songs that are edited pretty.

stetto

Well there's not that bad, and there's THAT video... :icon_neutral:

Actually, had I ever heard the song before, had time to "dial in" the amp (and move it away from the camera a fuzz), maybe rehearsed it even once before the show...Aw heck, it would have lost its spontenaity.

The awkward moments (at my expense) were designed...Little did I know...But yeah, everyone loved it. It's part of what makes these house concerts tick.

I'll get 'im next time; Gonna learn ALL his songs and be ready. :eusa_doh:

Looks like it was a fun time........I'm still jealous of all those talented people.....
