Hi y'all... been a while since I wandered through.  Saw this on the net today and thought I'd bring it to your attention if you hadn't seen it.

Seems some 20 late-model Spitfires were preserved and buried in Burma at the end of the war because it was cheaper than moving them.  Now they're found.  These variants used the RR Griffon rather than the RR Merlin.  With only some 35 Spits in flyable condition, this is a real find.

Enjoy!

Hey, I though you forgot about us here.

I saw that too, 20 more, or heck even a dozen or 10 more spits flying eventually would be awesome.

Naw, just that my full-time job of trying to understand :eusa_wall: what highseas is typing over at HFN keeps me pretty busy.  That and the fact I've had to find side work since you stopped paying me by the word  for my posts over there.

No one could forget this august assemblage of razor sharp wit with a love of things aeronautical.   :notworthy:

And they're original Griffon engined Spits, to boot.  Doesn't get much better than that!   :icon_mrgreen:  That farmer will be one rich man when he finishes selling all those airplanes.

Heh, well we ran out of stimulus money so we had to cut back somewhere, although I think the skeeter pond is definitely a shovel ready job if there ever was one.

And truthfully, anymore my eyes galze adn all I read of Highseas posts is-
"....blah,blah,blah,blah,blah, Banks ,blah,blah,blah,blah,blah, Bilderbergers, blah,blah,blah,blah,blah, English, blah,blah,blah,blah,blah, Masons, blah,blah,blah,blah,blah, Immigrants.....And thats why you all are traitors."   :icon_lol:

Well wait til he finds out some English freemason Banker is soon going to be flying his 2,043 hp Griffon-fired Spitty to the next Bilderberger secret conference and have it valet-taxied to the tie down area by an illegal immigrant.   :eusa_doh:

hehe, when I read his posts it makes me want to just have a few rum and cokes and try to swap the words around, see if they make any sense

I guess these are going back to England, and I have to think they are going to want them back or a cut at least.  How much do you think one of these would go for today, a vintage 1945 Spit Mk VII with a Griffon, low miles, original paint and tires, still packed in grease and waxed paper?  Gazillions I bet.  Flies.. what, 10mph below the top speed of a P-51D?  Sheeeewwwww.  $$$$$$$$
