I bought this right at a year ago.  I have put about 2500 miles total on it since I bought it.  I'm thinking it should last a long time at this rate

Pretty cool.  I give up on having nice cars anymore,  I am just happy if they keep running an don;t fall apart on the dirt roads after a year.

You, my friend, have no idea just how right you are.  These are a high maintenence ride, according to the forums I read.  A battery for the thing, is 3-500 dollars.  And it has to be "registered" so the electronics know there is a new battery in there and can adjust the charge rate accordingly.

I worked on one once a while back, and what struck me was that there are more relays in one of those than I have ever seen in one place anywhere else.  BMW's don't have simple electrical circuits, keeping with the German engineering philosophy of "if it's not complicated, it's not worth s--t."

Do you have to run special BMW oil in it?  One of the upper end Mercedes V8's uses a very specific oil, and if you don't, it voids your warranty.  Unbelievable....

I think I'll hang on to my old Ranger a little while longer!

Its special alright.  So is every last fluid in it.  I have changed it all except for brake fluid so far.  $$$$$$ what can $$$$$$ I $$$$$ say $$$$$ ?
