Went to an RC fly-in today that was called Turbines and Tumble weeds.  First time I have been around any of the RC jets.  Got to admit they are pretty amazing. I thought the old glow fuel planes were expensive.... These things start at like $5000.00 for just the plane, then the jet engine is another $3000 to $5000, and then the Spektrum 14 channel radio with receiver is about $1500.  I have quite a few pics and some video's if Honcho wants to mess with them.

Sure, I don't think I can post video, but you can send pics

The turbines are really cool, complicated and stupidly expensive. And make impressive fireballs when they go in.  On the bigger twins its not uncommon to have $40k or more into it.  They are fun to watch fly.

I watched turbines fly in person for the first time at Bomber Field a couple weeks ago. Impressive to be sure! They're having a jet-specific event there towards the end of the month.

I sent some pics and a video to the number I have for you.

They are cool, but it comes at an absurdly expensive price! And I've discovered over the years that a lot of the jet guys are real a**holes.

They do make rather spectacular fires when they go in. One of them caused a brush fire in central Texas not too long ago.  It was bad enough to make the news. The best one I've seen was at Bomber a few years ago when a guy flew an F-86 at high speed through the trees at the south end of the runway while trying to do a low pass. There was a pic floating around of the wings minus the rest of the airplane jammed into a tree.... :disturbed:

They are cool.  Yeah they do seem to be pretentious, kind of like Barret or LWRC owners in the gun world.
