we've had a typical west coast summer....wet cool and cloudy. Trouble is.....the coast is 800 miles and two mountain ranges away.  But everything is amazingly green.

We just got some warm sunny weather a week ago. The first trees are starting to show yellow leaves....something that normally occurs late august because we are so far north...

Ok, so first all you notherners leave the gate open and let all the cold air down here.  Then you left the skylights open and all this water came in.  Some of the areas west of us got up to six inches of rain last night, and my rain guage was sitting at two and a half inches this morning and it's still raining.  We sure needed it though.  Supposed to be a cold front coming through tonight - it's going to get all the way down into the sixties..... :eek5:

Its been a weird year, started out hot and dry, went to hot, humid and sometimes wet, now its cool and dry.  Actually there has been some perfect weather the last couple days, dead calm to 5mph, 75, low humidity and sunny.

Don't let 'em fool ya, man! They're setting you up for an un-forecast blizzard...Or dust storm...Or typhoon...Or... :eek5:

So I should expect localized global something?

Wind blowing like none other.  Both east/west and north/south highways in our county closed due to high winds, low to no visibility, and several accidents and pileups.  The democrats must be a yappin.

Yeah Ron, we had two days of 35 mph breezes here, but the temps continue to hover around 50s at night, 70s daytime. Calm today, grass as green as anytime in the early summer, very little change in the leaves yet. I love a late autumn, but I'm usually done mowing by mid-August. I just cut the grass yesterday and will likely have to do it one more time before frost, which isn't even in any forecasts for my neck o' the woods.

Good thing too. We're supposed to get some roofers on our house this week or next, and a dry, warm week will get them OFF my roof all that much sooner...

fall arrived today....or at least a morning preview...wet drizzly grey stuff with lots of wet leaves on the ground..... then summer came back this afternoon......

I think its probably safe to say our drought is broken.  The last part of summer had been increasingly wet, fall has been no exception, with rain shower spaced apart every few days until about a couple weeks ago or so and we got 1/3 of rain and 6" of heavy snow, then 4 days ago we got 2.6" of rain over night, and have gotten another .6" the last couple days. (guess who is still trying to put up hay  :sadness:)  Its been relatively green all year, when it did finally dry up and turn, it cooled off, got damp and now there is green undergrowth.  I'm sure the deer and cattle  grazers will be happy this winter or would be if we are not buried in snow which is looking more and more likely.   What a change from last fall which was one of the mildest and longest I can think of.

so, I guess that means once you get this crop done, your shift is over and you can relax for the rest of the winter, huh....

:icon_biggrin:

Yeah, although my wife says I am relaxing all the time as it is, only she doesn't quite state it like that.

perhaps there is not enough differentiation between work and relaxation ( in her eyes )........the answer is obvious....you are not relaxing hard enough!

Onepoint

Heheh, well I am not a kid anymore, and I can only take so much relaxing.

well, y'know nothing worth while comes without a bit of effort. Granted, it doesn't get any easier with age which is all the more reason to work harder at relaxing. You're not going to let those young whipper-snappers show you up, are you? It would be a shame to  let all those years and years of  experience go to waste when a mildly rigorous program of relaxing would help you keep that edge that you worked so hard for. After all, goo...I mean relaxing.....is an art and skill not to be wasted......i
