Yeah Nony, we were told to expect windchill temps exceeding -70 tonight...

Then again, these guys are no longer in the business of forecasting weather accurately and here at least we get a lot of "sky is falling" sensationalism. So I will simply defer to you fill me in on what's coming at me  :notworthy:

tBrrrrrrr.......if they are even half right, that is freekin'cold!!

Onepoint

Well yeah, but those are probably metric numbers, if you convert through the mystical power of math... carry the 2... divide ...6.... its only going to be -4532 degrees... er, or something  :eusa_think:

They strike with the fear tactics yet again; Temp got down to -20, absolutely no breeze whatsoever. They even had a blizzard warning, but the only flakes in sight were the fearmongers on local tv and radio... :P

I checked the forecast for Winnipeg somewhat north of you...temps were a balmy -40 including wind chill, so yeah, a little embelishment there........

Buzzardbeak

Did all you cold weather guys make it through the snap ok????

i saw on the news where even our resident southerners were a might nippy.

Onepoint

We did OK , it went from bitter cold to living in a dry hurricane non stop for about a week or so.  Its making everyone cranky.

Normally this time of year temps below zero (sometimes well below) and we have 2 to 3 feet of snow.... Yesterday over 50 , no snow, but we got rain!! We had one cold snap back in november for a couple of days, but it has been unusually, and pleasantly mild since then..

Hmmmmmm ........found this I wrote almost exactly 2 years ago.......i guess it ain't so unusual after all.......

Well, we burned through 400 gal. of propane in record time. Usually the tank doesn't need refilled till the end of February, this winter it was just after Christmas. @ current prices we be lookin' at $1000 for a 400 gallon fill. We certainly don't need can't afford anymore snaps like that...

Onepoint

Yeah we already burned more wood than all of last year.  But it has warmed up, today supposed to be 50s and breezy.

Its weird  all our snow drifts never really melted, some are still there under a dirt blanket as big blocks of ice, and some simply disappeared as the wind blew hardly making a trickle of run off.  Normally the 4'+ drifts will make a mess when they melt.

We won't be seeing any 50s here till April or May, but 20s is normal and we'll see the occasional 30+. It was -17 again this morning, but we're supposedly trending upward. I really hope it's so.

The annual Drift In Front of the House is officially taller than Terrin's Blazer and has become a snow fence of it's own, catching more and more of it as it grows. I think next fall I'm going to try some unsightly fencing out towards the road to see if I can minimize this thing...

Early spring teaser......waaay above freezing and sunny......supposed to be that way for the next week or so.....

I know we will pay for this......

This morning:

The old Dodge, which has never seen the inside of a garage and has no block heater (but DOES have an Interstate battery) started in this. Sounded like it wanted to spit the rods right through the hood at first, but once the oil pump kicked in she run like she always do...I have no doubt it wasn't good for the moving parts, but whaddaya do?

"They" say it's going to be 64+ degrees warmer tomorrow. "They", however, say a lot of things...

...Oh, and yes, the inside temp is correct--The unit is about a foot from the window... :icon_confused:

Ok, y'all can brag about the weather all you like, but why did you have to send it down here?  We're supposed to have two inches of freezing rain and ice tonight.  Those winter storms of yours shouldn't even exist down here....

Just for that, a pox of double digit summer humidity will descend upon the great white north!!   :disturbed:
