You could have moved to Amarillo, Stetto.

No, no I couldn't....Been through there, 'nuff sed.

QuoteWhat's a "snow blower"?  I thought that was what the wind was for...

This is:

Ja, Vayne, das Schtetto Line.  Mit der schnowenblowermachinenwagen fur mit to blow das schnow back into Kanada!

Damn, Stetto, all you need on that thing now is a .50 cal and a heater.   :icon_mrgreen:

Hey you schpekken bedder cherman dan Herr Fraz!  Vell dun!,

A small block blower.....now we're talkin' !  Drop a 6-71 blower on top, put some methanol in the tank, and you can blow them drifts clear over to a distant ranch. :icon_razz:

The main problem we have this year is that there's been no temps high enough to crust the snow over; What fell in December is still blowing around. We've always gotten a few days every winter where the temps get above freezing for a day and cap the snowpack. No such luck this time around--At least (so we're told) until tomorrow and Tuesday when it's supposed to get up to 38 degs.

It's a hopey-changey thing that I refuse to believe till I see...

Well, there ya go. Got around an inch last night, blew itself into the obligatory four foot drifts. I got one pass with the blower and the drive cable broke. I'd like a skidsteer now, please.

Got you beat there Stetto......had a water line break in our front yard last night. Me and the neighbors were digging though the snow and ice (with shovels!) trying to locate the source of the leak.....it was right on the property line, so it coulda been my pipes, or coulda been the neighbors.....either way an expensive repair bill loomed.  The city crews didn't arrive til after midnight and determined that it was the fire hydrant on the street causing the mess (and what a mess it was....) so fortunately the city pays, and fortunately no major damage....just the lawn, which now has the makings of a fishin' hole....

-20 again this morning. 2nd tank of propane is down to 15% already. I dunno what the price is now, but was near $5/gallon in Jan and spiraling up. Might have to sell the house to keep it warm.

Onepoint

Yeah, -13 here too.  Don't feel bad, its going to look like Mongolian steppes around here if I keep having to cut trees down.

balsum fractus

Enjoy that nice warm weather.......minus 38 here with the windchill.

......but it is sunny!

balsum fractus

Spoiler alert...........

Strong north winds are a blowin' .........temps hovering near -40.......
You southerners may get to enjoy this too!

...not that I wish this bitter cold on anyone.

Onepoint

Yeah we are supposed to get slammed starting tonight,  some more of the refreshing brisk northern air, i.e. cold from the dark side of the moon, some nice moist air from the west coast and its all supposed to meet right over us.   I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to the change of pace from seeing sun a couple hours a day and having the snow stay where I put it.

balsum fractus

We got sun here, but it is no match for the flippin' frigid air that those North Poleons are sending down here. The thirty knot winds do nothing but enhance the experience  :disturbed: :sadness:

We're lookin to get a smaller piece of your lovely chill tonight, Nony. The cold has finally seeped through the exterior walls enough to freeze a toilet feeder line. Took an hour & a half to thaw with Mama's hair dryer. Just glad I didn't have to break into the wall. I'm also surprised it took this long to freeze up.

They say this has been the 19th coldest winter up here on record, but they don't appear to have data on the windiest. My vote is THIS year.

Supposed to have a high of -12 today, the 1st of March. I ordered seed for the 8th acre yesterday, but the frost is so deep this year that it may not even be tillable until July...Water pipes are freezing all over the state, so far our main from the well is ok, must be deeper than 6 foot...
