We were riding the warm fronts, staying ion the 40s and 50s, but that's over now.   40 tomorrow, but 50 mph wind, then the bottom falls out, Thursday a high of 17 and low of 1, then a little bump back the 20s Friday before it falls off with -10 below lows and teens for highs.  Snow all through it, but no real accumulation so I have heard so far.

It's hailing outside right now after a few hours of on and off hard rain.  We had 60mph wind gusts a little earlier this afternoon, will be interesting to see how many tree branches and garbage cans will be scattered over the neighborhood in the morning...

While there may be cause for some sympathy for your situation vis a vis winter weather, may I point out that those expectations have been put forth without any mechanism for compensation for said guardianship. It should come as no surprise to you that lack of compensation has been met with equal portions of neglect of any caretaking responsibility of said gate - even if it did exist....which it doesn't! In any case, not watching a gate that does not exist provides the same result as watching a gate that does not exist! I might suggest a more prudent strategy of preparedness closer to your domicile location....such as mukluks, parkas, and ski masks.😂😁😅

Well wait a minute, whaddya mean you don't get compensated?  You literally live next door to Santa, so you get presents almost before anyone except maybe Nanuck the Eskimo.  And you get the added benefit of elves working cheap doing side gigs to fund their cookie habit in the off season.  Surely its easy enough to drive over to the north pole and flip the cold switch to off.

Meanwhile down in subtropical WY, its 4 degrees this morning, which was substantially less than advertised, I am considering cancelling my national weather service subscription and just do home grown weather, with more sun and warm.

7° here. They threw a blizzard in my hood yesterday,  but I guess the Springs wasn't invited. All we got was the 40mph winds.

Some outfit predicted 30+ inches of snow for this week, but there's no accountability for fake weather forecasting any more than there is for fake anything else these days, so this dude simply abides...

Nony's sub-zero party is slated for later this week. Thank God we got out of MN, yeh?

Lumps of coal do not count!!

QuoteLumps of coal do not count!!

Ah, but you forget, my Arctic friend, that we Americans are no longer allowed to have coal, thus removing a vital source of heat.  It also occurs to me that the really desirable parkas and mukluks are made in Canada, and come not only with hefty price tags, but with outrageous import taxes which allow only celebrities to own such things.  We have to settle for the Old Navy knockoffs...

I was assured by several people from both Frostbite Falls, Minnesota, and its Canadian sister city that said gate is indeed in Canada.  When was the last time you heard of a "Texas cold front?"

If this keeps up, there will be no more F-18s for you!   :icon_lol:

I suppose you could use locally sourced materials and knit one out of sagebrush, and line it with gopher pelts.........😁

Onepoint

Uhh, a lump of coal would be welcome for the fire the next couple days.

And its Texas, so they have to use mesquite and Chupacabra fur.

The Canadian weather guessers who have made Texas their home in order to escape the sub zero summers have informed us natives that yet another Canadian cold front is about to bless us with temps in the teens and 20s early next week.  Attempting to order one of those expensive Canadian parkas in order to prepare for said front resulted in an expected shipping date of 2026, though if I was in Europe, I could get it tomorrow.

Chupacabras are rather rare in this part of the swamp, so we have to settle for squirrels and armadillos.  The resulting winter garb might not only be warm, but bulletproof as well, with the added benefit of making you look like one of those mechas in a Japanese anime movie...

Quote.   Over the weekend, morning temperatures will reach minus 40 degrees Celsius in many areas. Wind chills will approach minus 50.

.......anyone want to come up for a visit??

Onepoint

Yeah they upgraded our forecast to be 13 and snow tomorrow, and then Sat and Sunday we may not see positive temps at all. So no I can enjoy the frigid north from my very own home.

stetto

Yessir, even we in the subtropical paradise that is southern Colorado are going to see minuses for the next 6 days.

And me without 3 dogs....  :sadness:

Onepoint

It just  keeps getting better.  We were supposed to maybe 4" by Sunday altogether, we have about 5" now and still snowing and blowing, high temp today about 15, negatives tonight, 20 tomorrow then -1 for a high on Sat, probably that Sun , negative teens at night, and all through our refreshing brisk breeze to take down into the - 30s wind chill at times .  Gotta love winter.

I guess Gathering of the Clam II will have wait a bit then...
