Had a front come thru this morning, temp dropped from 72 to 61 in about 20 minutes, and got 3/4's of an inch of rain.

Heck Jamie, the problem with that is moving is exponentially more hated than doing wood. I guess that poem is right, I am froze to the ground here.  :disturbed:

jetmex

True, but you'll only have to move once (unless you're Stetto!).  You'll be cutting wood until there are no more winters, and I'm pretty sure that won't happen anytime soon!   :sadness:

Onepoint

I moved once, that's why it's not happening again.

jetmex

Just once???   :icon_lol:

Well, the weather guessers are saying we're going to get between 4 and 6 inches of rain this weekend.  I'll believe that when it happens, because right now it's severe clear and 72 degrees!

Onepoint

Its been gorgeous here too, 60 and 70, mostly calm, the only nit pic is the 20 degree lows at time over night.  Keeps this up I may actually get caught up with the stuff that has been put off.

Rain is predicted for overnight. I imagine Carl & Billie Sue are seeing some right now.

The Austin area hasn't seen a drop in the last 42 days, but the wishful thinkers and their AI forecast dohickies are claiming between 2.5 to 5 inches. I think the 5 o'clock weather tonight will admit that northeast Oklahoma is getting that, and we'll maybe get an inch...in any case, I got my high-falutin' Jeffersonian rain guage set up...

Things are dry here in KC area. The weatherfibbers say it was the second driest period here from August first to tonight so far since the 1800's and whatever odd year.

Oh and we bought a place with leaves. Never had to deal with leaves before. Come late fall, the leaves have a surname, like f'ing leaves, etc etc. I've bought a gas blower, got an electric one too that vacuums up leaves, bought a bag kit for riding mower, leaf bags, pole saw, rakes... yeah baby.

Heh, I usually let someone in NE deal with our leaves, of course I usually have to deal with somebodies tumble weeds from the west.

My leaf problem got solved a few years ago when hurricane Ike destroyed both of the trees in my backyard. We replaced them with a single one that got wiped out in the winter storm in 2020.  The red maple that's there now is doing really well, hasn't even dropped its' leaves yet.  When it does, I just mulch them up with the mower.

Damned if we didn't get some rain last night. And thunderbolt and lightning very very frightening as well.  There are trees and branches down all over the neighborhood and the sound of the week will be chainsaws.  They say there's more rain on the way...

stetto

Yep, we got an entire 2 inches here. No wind damage that I can see, but the landlord was going to brush hog the creek out back today. He's going to have to wait a week...

stetto

OK, another inch tonight. Y'all Texicans have some weird weather, when you have weather!

Onepoint

Ok, just a little wake up call for us, dry and nice mostly, but bottomed out at 14 degrees this morning. I guess the growing season is officially done now.

I saw the map. Almost into Carl's neighborhood. We're looking at lows to mid 40s next couple mornings, highs 60s and 70s. My peppers only just started to bloom, and the aphids are as busy as ever. I think I could fall for zone 9!

If you don't like the weather around here, just wait a minute.  Someone up north left the gate open again, so we have 30-40kt winds blowing through here right now.  Wind chill was in the mid 30s this morning, and if it wasn't blowing so hard, it would be a pleasant 67 sunny degrees outside.  No rain, though.

As always, you northerners can have that winter stuff all to yourselves.
