We finally got some rain today, about half an inch.  Not as much as we need, but better than nothing.  It did cool things off a bit, though...

Onepoint

We are totally opposite from yesterday, 5am and its 63, with a 13mph breeze and 25% humidity. Supposed to hit 93 today, tomorrow its supposed to be 76 for a high, just 2% chance or rain though>

I think the weather guessers are just messing with us now.

Back to hot.  95 with 111% humidity right now.  It rained all around us yesterday, but not here.  I have it on good authority that summer will end just after Christmas...

Either something is about to happen or fall is finally getting here.  Solid overcast all day, just now touching 90.  No rain, but the humidity is in triple digits as usual.

Looks like it might be a good weekend for the warbird fly-in at Bomber Field this weekend.  Grandson and I are going on Saturday...rumor has it Stetto might make it, too!  :icon_mrgreen:

We are definitely not in summer anymore, still been warm some days, not close to triples anymore but hot afternoons. Plus it takes longer to get there and last shorter and just feels different. It has been averaging much cooler, now has been some monsoon moisture come up, we have not got any on us so far, but where its been hitting has had some heavy rains.

I have 2 hay fields left to cut and then that's done for the year, cows come home Sunday, calves go on Tuesday, going to be busy the next few days.

I must be acclimating. I'm still sweating on my morning walks, but not near as much as when I started them in Caldwell County last April. The mornings aren't any cooler or dryer, so it must be me... :eusa_clap:

Bomber Field has been one of very few items I've had on what I'd call a bucket list (ever since I first heard of it some 30 years ago), so I'm actually looking forward to something for the first time in a long while.

O, what to wear?!?  :disturbed:

So we have turned the corner, of course it is officially fall now that the equinox is passed. Temps have really moderated, as in a couple mornings have been uncomfortably cool, but we have been getting showers every day, or nearly for several in a row, not a lot, some are just sprinkles, but a 10th to 1/4" from a couple, just enough to make haying difficult.  :eusa_wall:

Got through probably one of the most stressful days or couple days of the year, shipped calves to town yesterday, took most of the day to catch, sort and finally haul them, but was trying to keep it low stress for a change and not push much, easier on them and my blood pressure. I must be getting old because my patience is limited when it comes to that normally and the language gets colorful, but it was uneventful. And it helps when they cooperate.

I sold the steers claves private treaty, the heifers went to auction today so now we bite nails to see what they bring.  Years like this its the entire paycheck, hoping we get a premium to offset the 8 grand in hay I had to buy so far.

Fall?  Nope, not yet.  100 degrees here at the casa yesterday, no rain forecast for the next week or so.

It was surprisingly pleasant outside this morning, though.  Nony must have left the gate open because there was a cool breeze from the north that lasted until the sun cleared the trees. Going to be another hot one today.

jetmex

Fall maybe?  It was actually cool this morning and it's been in the low 90s instead of the high 90s in the afternoons.  Still humid, though.

The weather extremists on tv and various and sundry social media sites have been prophetizing a precipitation Armageddon for at least a week, ginning up equal measures of over-the-top eye rolling and bugeyed panic frenzy in the San Antonio/Austin Texas corridor.

I'm personally betting on an inch of rain with local instances of 2 or 3. These buffoons are virtually competing for Best Actor in a Disaster Film award. So far the mooke on Fox 7 mornings in Austin is clearly the one to beat. Up.

...Tomorrow will tell...

Onepoint

1st of Oct, we have been cool and humid, but dry as far as rain goes for the most part.   Now I see its supposed to warm up a little and dry out more, while down south in eastern CO and central NE is getting pretty wet.

Cut the last of 3rd cutting yesterday, just can't catch a break this year, bugs got into it and ate a lot of the leaves off, I let it go long to grow, apparently for the frickin bugs to enjoy.  :eusa_wall:

Then last Sunday did something even dumber than normal, was supposed to go to Cheyenne and have cake and ice cream for Vickis birthday with Kayla and her boyfriend, I stepped out and was walking to the truck 1st thing in the morning and my leg wasn't latched, came off midstride and I fell hard, landed on the stump. Whole new experience of ow. laid around whining for the rest of the day, swelled up and bruised, and was on crutches until yesterday when finally could hobble around a little. I had been doing well as far as that goes lately, guess I needed a wake up call.

jetmex

Hope you're doing better today.  Please stay off of it until you can get around ok.

stetto

Day-amn, Honcho! That makes my neuropathy feel like a skinned knee compared. Heal well brother!

Onepoint

Apparently the world doesn't stop for my ouches, which is total BS IMO, but I digress. Still hobbling around, but heck, I'm not doing doing Olympic gymnastics, not counting the falling ungracefully on ice or trying to avoid the angry cow or 2. I had to go and meet a trucker and unload a semi of hay today.

A little sore now but its getting better slowly, I'm thinking a proper application of tequila would probably do it, but the rest of my body is raising a red flag at that.

As my daughter likes to tell me, "but did you die?" to which I always say "Yes!...but I got better."

Helps to be well founded in classical training, classical Monte Python that is.  :disturbed:

Just as long as the guy with the cart doesn't show up at your door!   :disturbed:

The damn weather guessers were right this time.  We've gotten an inch of rain so far today here at the house according to the Highly Calibrated Wally World Rain Gauge.  Sun is out now, creating sauna-like conditions, but they say more rain is on the way.  We'll see...
