Has been a bugger!

We had the driveway resurfaced with crushed asphalt. That night we got an inch of downpour, I was sure of washout all over the place, but not even a trace of water flow could be found! Yay me! We also did a boatload of fill in some low areas of the propity, and practically rebuilt the access ports to the septic--No, not practically. We rebuilt them. Spread black topsoil and seeded (now cursed with moving sprinklers from the ONE hydrant way on the other side of the outshed), removed a couple yards of weed infested area in front of the house, filled with old class 5 from the former mud run of a driveway, graded for drainage and hand-tamped, then made two trips to the local quarry for 2-inch crushed granite to put over it--after laying two layers of 5-mill plastic and two layers of 15-year landscape fabric over the tamped fill. Today it was finally dry enough to till the rows in the eighth-acre...We have friends staying from Colorado and another coming tonight, and Dylan gets back from Europe tomorrow.

...And now I'm told that another week starts on Sunday!! :eek5:

That sounds like an awful lot of work!!!

Me...sitting in a waterfront resort that costs nearly my monthly pension each night, getting ready to welcome a new daughter-in-law to the family tomorrow night.

It will be worth it....

Sheesh, and I thought I had it rough just trying to keep up with spraying and mowing weeds, which I am failing at.   This has been my summer for equipment breakdowns.

Congrats Nony!

Frazz

Congrats to you guys too.  Now Honcho.... :disturbed:  you could be like us here in western Kansas and wonder what a mower is.  Other than our little patch of bluegrass that we keep watered, I have mowed the buffalo grass twice this year around the farm house area.  Hooked up the 15' mower right after harvest thinking the weeds and stuff were gonna grow, but nay nay.  The grass in the pastures and crp grasses are all brown as a wood floor here.  Seems to rain everywhere around us in about a 30 mile radius.  But no hail either   :eusa_clap:

Heheh, we were like that for a couple years ago,  now I am wearing out all the stuff I used to hardly use. I have grass chest high on fence lines, and still green.

Yeah, we're greener than leprechaun turds here to--But last year we were in Rons shoes--6 inches of rain all year. Now we got ground water ponds that used to be ditches and low spots. The corn up here is sporadic and slow, soybeans hardly 3 inches high yet. Then again I talked to a farmer last night at the Fargo airport who lives 60 miles southwest of me that said he could get his entire hand in the cracks in his beet fields. I think the crop insurers are going to have a lot of paperwork this fall...

Green summer here.......lots or rain, followed by lots of sun. The vegetation seems to like it...

We missed most of this last big rain, while they had flooding again in CO, hopefully it stretched far enough for Frazz to have to mow weeds again.

Hey, we got 3" overnight.   :eusa_clap:  It came pretty gentle to moderate and did us a lot of good.   :eusa_think:  Now where is that gas can for the mower at?  Must be under about 3" of dust in the quanset somewhere.

Well we got Mike married off....   They wanted the perfect spot for their wedding, and they found it.

Congrats! She is gorgeous.  You know the older he gets, the more he looks like someone we know. ;)
