Anyone still flying...

I have to ask, since this was what brought us all together in the first place, are any of you still flying RC airplanes?

I haven't flown in almost two years now, though I am still building airplanes for friends when requested.  Not sure why, just sort of lost interest and the bang for the buck just isn't there anymore, as well as now having to deal with the FAA getting involved (don't even get me started on that) in trying to regulate a hobby.  Been doing a lot of plastic scale modeling , which was how I got started.  I might go back to RC if the grandkids show any interest of if I can find a nice empty field close by to fly the electrics.

The FAA can piss up a rope.

I fly just a little bit, mostly electrics, I try and keep the runway up though because you just never know.  Don't know where all that free time I used to find went to, but I suspect it just takes longer to do the things I should be doing now.   :sadness:

Boy, no, not in a long time. My last two attempts ended in disaster for the aircraft.

Actually been thinking of a garage sale for more than a couple years. I can't trust my hands to build nor fly anymore....Besides, I have no homing hay feeders to keep the planes close...

Anyone seen my dog? A small camera full of memories? :eek5: :eek5:

Yup, still enjoy it, although I don't get out as often as I'd like. Now have people paying me to build and fix broken airplanes...

I haven't flown for years, but am going to get back into it this year. Lots of kits to build.

Haven't gotten paid money to build an RC model in quite a while, but it is doing wonders for my plastic stash.  I have a pile of unbuilt RC kits as well, might actually get to one of them someday.

I built a big Zero a few years back.  80 inch wing, big gasser, retracts, all the goodies. Sank a pretty good pile of money and time into it.  It came out really well, probably the best RC model I ever did.  I flew it twice and my knees were shaking pretty badly when I got it back down the last time, not because it flew badly (it didn't) but because in the middle of a snap roll I realized if I pranged it, I couldn't afford to replace it.  I tend to get attached to models that I spend a lot of time on and didn't want to have to haul it home in a trash bag.  I sold it for a small profit and haven't flown since.  My electric Phantom is still awaiting its maiden flight...

I like my hard earned dollars as much as the next guy, but for some strange reason, models don't have dollar signs attatched to them..... They are just airplanes, and either they fly, or I did something wrong. Don't get me wrong....I am still capable of planting one once in awhile, but almost always because somewhere along the line, I did something stupid....the cost of the airplane never enters the equation. I can't explain it...my Dad was the same way.

I have a couple that have emotional attachment, and a couple I fly like I stole.  Well actually I am so out of practice I fly everything like that.  :disturbed:

I think my augering my 188 Agwagon ended a lot of my enthusiasm to build and fly. That bird took a year for me to build and an attachment was made. My hands getting passed didn't help.....
