I cursed myself with a soil testing kit yesterday. I did 6 pH tests from different points in the 8th acre and every one of them shows off-the-scale alkalinity.

I'm also depleted in all other nutrients.

So why do the weeds grow so fast?

Because they are spawned from the debil.

Well, don't matter, deer came in and ate the lettuce, some peppers and both the green and dry pole beans...

Really grinds my gears.

And this morning a 4-6 week old kitten got himself cornered by the dogs. Hey Honcho, need any replacements? Heck, like you'd notice....

Oh I'd notice, the last wayward kitten to come home is such a thief it's a wonder she is not the FBI most wanted list.

She's still telling my daughter why we aren't keeping the little bugger, but she used the exact same tactic on two other critters who are still here...

I woke up this morning with a quarter pounder of cat on my head. Not boding well when they're allowed in the bedroom.....

Back to things ag-ish. We have deer problems--No, we have fawn problems. Haven't had to use the old 'lectric fence in 8 years. Bastiges took out virtually every pole bean plant and ate a swath through the corn, ate the lettuce, spinach and bell peppers. They were starting on the hot peppers, that's about the point where I remembered having this "dog fence". It worked before...
