Anyone still doing model stuff?

I'm not flying anymore, but have been doing a bunch of building for a friend of mine who has more airplanes than time.  It actually pays pretty well, so we both get something out of it.  Just finished a 96 inch Spitfire and am now working on a 110 inch B-24, which I hope to have ready for the September Bomber Field fly in .  Had a hand in the Sea Fury in the pic as well, painted on the markings and did the research on the paint scheme.  That one is also 96 inch span.

When not doing RC stuff, I got back to my first hobby passion, plastic scale models.  Been doing that since I was a kid and got back into it after a 30-something year hiatus when son David found one of my old models in the garage and talked me into building some more.   Top to bottom:  Savoia S-21 seaplane from the anime movie "Porco Rosso".  Not an actual airplane, but I thought it was a pretty airplane, so there it is.  The Phantom was built for my friend Wally (the RC guy) whose dad was lost in that airplane over Cambodia in 1970.  An XFY-1 Pogo in a what-if Marine scheme, and last, a Heinkel He-115 flying boat.

Cool stuff, like I said to you in the PM, all my stuff is buried, an archeologist will excavate the plane room some day and find all kind of goodies.

Nice models.....very nice! I seem to attract people that need stuff built too, but it keeps me away from my stuff. But, like you said, it pays well......

Thanks!  I know the feeling - there are three partially finished models on the bench in the model room waiting for attention.  Decided I'd get the B-24 done and then take a break from the RC stuff to finish some of my own.  There's a 1/48 F9F Panther and A-1 Skyraider and a 1/72 P2V Neptune to be finished, and my winter project will be a Zoukei Mura 1/32 A-1 in USAF markings.  Waiting in the RC wings is a 90 inch P-39 and possibly a 120 inch F-82.  Too many projects, not enough Mexicans!!   :disturbed:

Well finally spent some real time flying today, 1st time I have  put that much time on the sticks in at least 3 years now.

My cousin Matt came up with his DJI mavic and some little racing drone, I had  just picked up a E flite clipped wing cub that we maidened and had the Tundra to wring out, did a lot of STOL stuff and sweating.

Didn't do much for pics but caght some still from the drone, one down the runway the otehr of 2 duffuses sitting in the shade.

FPV is a kick, I may have to splurge for a drone and goggles.

Big day last week, got the B-24 paint done and on to final assembly.  All that's left is wiring the motor and installing the electric retracts, which so far are not fitting as advertised.  It's always something.  The model is a VQ B-24, 110 inch wing.

Its a private group, not sure you can see it without joining.  Looks like they were keeping it at least a mistake and half high and fast for the maiden, but I love the multiprop sound on that.

Here is his take off.

It was a great flight, and I missed it because I had to work!  There's a little tweaking yet to do, but Wally said the airplane flew great.  And it sure is hard to miss...  :icon_mrgreen:
