A feel good moment

The Blue Angels did a flyby over Houston today to honor the first responders and medics who have been working overtime.  They were coming from Dallas, so I decided the best vantage point to see them was from the parking lot of the mall, which is along one of the major highways going into the city.  The grandkids are always up for things like this, so we all piled into the truck and off we went. The mall has been closed for the past few months, so I was a little more than surprised to see the parking lot jammed with thousands of cars and even more people.  The six F-18's flew in low sweeping turn from the northwest, and when they kicked the smoke on, the crowd erupted in cheers, waving American flags and shouting as the planes went by.  I have to admit it brought a tear to my eye, not only because that always happens to me when I see the Blues or the Thunderbirds, but because it was wonderful to see all those people come from all over for a five second flyby to celebrate all that is good about this country.  My son and daughter also saw them from different locations and reported the same crowds and cheers and flags.  The Lone Star Flight Museum will be doing a 30 ship warbird flyby over Houston on Friday.  My desk at work is going to be empty for a while when that happens.

Maybe this sounds a little maudlin, but it's great to be an American.

That pretty cool. Things like that warm my heart and brings a tear also.

The chances of a flyby where I live (slim to none) would be at 35,000 feet on their way to somewhere important.
To understand true love, lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of your car for an hour and then see which one is glad to see you when you come back

Some days it is for sure, some days its frustrating as hell who we have to share this country with.  But you know how that goes, love my country always, like the govt only when it deserves it.

Your Judge Judy must have had a heart attack with all those people in one place!

Nope, this one

QuoteOur county "judge" (a 28 year old who isn't really a judge) issued a mandatory mask order a few days ago, complete with arrest threats and fines.

It would be nice if people who are in the legal system would actually read the frickin constitution.  Keep it up they will get a remedial reading class under gun point.

Our county judge is named Lena Hidalgo, and yes, she is a very liberal Hispanic.  The man she ran against for that job in the last election had been doing the job for many years and is a thousand times more qualified than she ever will be, so many of us are wondering how she managed to beat him.  I'll bet she's fuming now that the governor lifted the mask order and all the silly threats that went with it.

BTW, she's not really a judge, that is just a title referring to the head county administrator.  Must be a Texas thang, because I've never heard that term applied anywhere else.

Funny, I always thought judges weren't supposed to make law - especially pseudo judges.
