A pretty good weekend...

Pat and I went to San Antonio to celebrate birthdays with my uncle and cousins. We always have a good time, but this one was better than usual.  One of my uncle's good friends is a retired Air Force aircraft mechanic who stood nuclear alerts with F-100s in Italy, did a tour in Vietnam as a C-130 crew chief, then became a sheet metal tech on B-52's before retiring and working on B-1s, F-5s and T-38s as a contractor.  Along the way, he learned gunsmithing and built himself a pretty good collection of firearms from all over the world. But, as he's gotten older, he's become unable to do that any longer, so he's in the process of selling off the guns and all his reloading and gunsmith tools and equipment.

When I saw him this weekend, he walked in the door and said, "Young man, you gotta decision to make today!" The decision turned out to be a beautiful hunting rifle, a custom Mauser bolt action in 22-250 that he gifted to me.  I wasn't expecting that at all and have to admit that I was honored that he thought enough to give it to me.  He told me he just couldn't bear to sell that one and wanted to "keep it in the family."  And so it will stay in the family.

Hopefully, Honcho will humor me once again and post the pic.... :icon_mrgreen:

I didn't get any pics Jaime, might have to resend them.

Just sent it to you.  Thanks, Honcho!

Still nothing on my end.  Don't make me get out my tinfoil why a gun pic won't get through.  :eek5:

Just tried again.  I have two numbers for you, maybe I sent it to the wrong one?

Onepoint

Could be, it showed up this time.

That's pretty.

It's nicer in person.  And it's heavy.  But, my friend said that I could probably pick a rabbit off a fence post at half a mile with that thing.  Assuming I could see it... :eek5:  :disturbed:
