Livestock Bar & Grill / Stetto and Jetmex go to Bomber...
Last post by jetmex - Today at 07:53:30 AM
Stetto finally fulfilled his bucket list wish to go to Bomber Field yesterday for the big annual RC event that goes on there every September.  We met up and had a fine time watching the planes and I got a chance to introduce him to my grandson and many of my old RC friends.  We had a fine time and I got some nice hardware out of the deal to boot!   :icon_mrgreen:

Yes, he took pics.  Neither of us can seem to post them for some reason, so we are now once again at the mercy of the head Honcho for that.

We talked of a Fubar reunion again.  It's well past time to have one...

Quote from: jetmex on September 17, 2026, 04:07:59 PMLooks like it might be a good weekend for the warbird fly-in at Bomber Field this weekend.  Grandson and I are going on Saturday...rumor has it Stetto might make it, too!  :icon_mrgreen:

I must be acclimating. I'm still sweating on my morning walks, but not near as much as when I started them in Caldwell County last April. The mornings aren't any cooler or dryer, so it must be me... :eusa_clap:

Bomber Field has been one of very few items I've had on what I'd call a bucket list (ever since I first heard of it some 30 years ago), so I'm actually looking forward to something for the first time in a long while.

O, what to wear?!?  :disturbed:

We are definitely not in summer anymore, still been warm some days, not close to triples anymore but hot afternoons. Plus it takes longer to get there and last shorter and just feels different. It has been averaging much cooler, now has been some monsoon moisture come up, we have not got any on us so far, but where its been hitting has had some heavy rains.

I have 2 hay fields left to cut and then that's done for the year, cows come home Sunday, calves go on Tuesday, going to be busy the next few days.

Either something is about to happen or fall is finally getting here.  Solid overcast all day, just now touching 90.  No rain, but the humidity is in triple digits as usual.

Looks like it might be a good weekend for the warbird fly-in at Bomber Field this weekend.  Grandson and I are going on Saturday...rumor has it Stetto might make it, too!  :icon_mrgreen:

Quote from: Onepoint on September 15, 2026, 05:58:37 AMSo I stalked you a little bit, is that the River Acres RV park you landed at?  Actually looks like a nice area, historic, not a lot of people, lots of shade, plus the river.  Could be a lot worse, at least no gators or snow.

Yep, that's the place. So far so good, took a short (2 mile) walk this morning, mighty serene from what I can tell so far. And the rent is right. From some of the front yards I've seen I don't think there's any threat of me being crowned the local kook :icon_mrgreen:

Probably would be nice to go sit by the river and mull things. Has a tendency to calm things down a bit.

Glad you got relocated ok.

5 bar cell service. What a change from the occasional single bar I was getting northeast of Luling. Wifi is free and that too maintains a 4-5 bar strength. Haven't met any other residents yet, I'm sure they'll ooze out of the woodwork soon enough.

My trailers orientation is exactly the same, front door pointed north by northeast, and there quite a few more tall oaks providing morning & evening shade.

So far it's been pretty quiet, with the 5:30 am exodus of folks going to work. Perfect for me, I'm generally awake between 5 & 5:30 anyway.

Good place to sit, sulk and mull on what I want to do, if I decide to do anything. For now...

...here I am...

Back to hot.  95 with 111% humidity right now.  It rained all around us yesterday, but not here.  I have it on good authority that summer will end just after Christmas...
