A few years ago my bride fenaggled us into a propane subsidy from a local nonprofit. There have been winter's where that help kept us out of bankruptcy court.

I got a call from them yesterday, a visit today by one of their service people--After last winter's deadly unending cold, our house was designated a "high fuel consumption candidate" and this outfit would like to offer a number of products and services FREE OF CHARGE, including a host of tasks I have on my 20 year to-do plan; adding attic insulation to make 18 inches (we are at 6-10 right now), install and replace fart fans in all bathrooms (3), upgrade-seal-insulate all ductwork, upgrade furnace blower motor, replace water heater, replace refrigerator, install new soffet venting, the list goes on...ALL AT NO COST TO THE CLIENT.

Yeah, I asked all the obvious questions, then I signed ze pay-pers...

...I'll keep y'all apprised. No, this isn't federal tax money, it's a state deal. I'd never make you guys pay for my upgrades...

Wow great deal for you,  here they won't even dump a load of firewood for you.    Attic insulation alone is a big plus, we blew in an extra 8 " a few years ago, made it much more comfy.

Good to see some good luck fly your way for a change.......

Yeah, and timing too; I'm in the middle of another remodel that involves tearing out sheetrock and firring a four inch exterior wall to six inches, and the guy said if I waited they'd insulate and install vapor barrier. I HATE doing either.

You are going to insulate interior walls?

stetto

No, this is a perimeter wall. Southern exposure, subject to Wyoming style winds @ -30 in winter & 90-plus in summer.

Oh I get ya, interior of outside wall.  I was thinking man it must get really cold when you have to insulate the interior walls. :)
