This is such a weird year for weather, fog and light drizzle for a while yesterday morning, not enough to make it any thing but feel damp, by late after noon it burned off enough for the thunderstorms kicked off, looks like south of us a few miles got whacked again. 

Some of these storms rolling through have been monsters, baseball hail in Scottsbluff day before yesterday along with some 70 mph straight line winds

These hot,muggy texas days are well worth getting through to enjoy these phenomenal Texas evenings!

And the PuddinFace came to visit!

We had 3/10" and some quarter size hail, but not much, and I was happy to get just that!

 I finally mowed the road edge and barrow pit, which is the only thing tall enough to mow yet.

More rain last night and today.  The Wally World Calibrated Rain Gauge now reads a total of 8 inches (maybe a little more because it overflowed once) over the last six days.  There's still standing water in the low part of the backyard that will probably be there for another six days unless the sun comes out and burns it all off.  The weeds are loving all of this!

We are actually cooling down a bit, mid 80s for a while again, chance of thunderstorms starting Saturday.

Hay is running about 20- 25% of normal so far.

 I saw a map that showed what it would take for rain to end the drought in 30 days, we are in the 14" area, which is what we get all year normally. 

My host hit the big 4-0 yesterday trapping pocket gophers. The property looks clean an clear for the first time since I moved out here.

He used a trap called a 'gopher hawk'. I wish I had some of those when I was a kid trapping for the 60 cent bounty.

My little front yard has been invaded by meadow voles, leaving raised trails in the dirt a la the old Bugs Bunny cartoons. Too shallow for gopher hawk traps, im gonna have to get inventive with Tomcat bait...

Heat warning today. They're claiming upwards of a 120° heat index. It's 75° out here now, already feels like I walked into a sauna.

Should be fun. Thank God for swimming pools.

Ugh, hopefully they will ignore you.  Of course this is all Trumps fault, he stopped the science to detect them, which is why they were detected in Mexico 1st and not stopped by an imaginary line on a map.

Yes we did.  I think Corpus Christi was a few weeks away from water rationing before all this started.  We ain't in a drought no more!

Another half inch last night, but it's starting to ease off.  If the sun comes out it's going to get really toasty...
