Snowing here today. Early for the season, but I'll take it. I planted the last of my bucket-bound tree sapl, ings yesterday, a basswood and a buckeye. Thought it best to wait till they were dormant.

"They" are saying 3-6" to a hundred miles south of us. I'll go conservative and say maybe a trace. The radar shows us on the edge of everything.

Thought you always lived on the edge :disturbed:

We have a shot at rain/snow here next couple of nights.  We are out trying to get some wheat planted.

It's just not normal to run the heater in the tractor drilling wheat.  A/c should be on high for that.

QuoteWell we got a harsh reality check there are other seasons than summer.  86 yesterday, 83 today until about noon or so, then when   the cold front came through dropped 30 degrees in about 45 minutes.

.......isn't that what you were praying for in the middle of August??

Heheh, yeah but timing is everything!  And hey, it felt good...for about 30 minutes, then the new wore off.

holy shirts, is it ever chicken pluckin' cold out this morning!

It got warm again--70s yesterday, not as nice today...BUT IT'S RAINING!!! :eusa_clap:

We might actually get an inch or more out of this, more than we've gotten at once in months. Might be too little too late, but I'll take what I can get.

I planted some basswood saplings last week, yesterday I checked on them and found that fox squirrels consider basswood shoots to be a delacacy  :eusa_wall: . At least they haven't touched the buckeye trees (yet), but to ward them (and the rabbits) off I set buckets over top of them with bricks to hold them down. If they want them, they'll have to work for it.

Were those the hybrid variety that flower into airplanes?

We have had a little snow and couple showers go through, its still so dry it gets soaked up immediately, but its something at least to get the trees and fields get something before the ground freezes hopefully.  The wind returned, can't say I missed it much.  Buts its been one of those wild falls so far with crazy swings, 80 one day 50 and drizzly the next type thing.

...And global warming ended 16 years ago, so we goan' need a new scapegoat....

Mebbe Bush did it...

So far this year we have received 6.95 inches of precip for the calender year so far.  This comes from a Kansas State Research Station located about 6 miles from our farm.  10" below normal for this calender year too.

Onepoint

Yeah, that's about where we are at, though we may be actually a little lower since the reporting station is 20 miles away and they have gotten more rain than we have.
6.6" and normally 13", last year we were 16" this at time of year, what a difference.

stetto

Fargo is was at 11.somesuch inches before this current rain. Fargo is 40 miles away and spent the entire year on a different weather track than us.

We haven't had 6 inches right here in my back yard--That includes all of last winter, so basically less than 6 inches for a calender year.

The guage just passed 1" an hour or so ago and there's more coming. Slow soaker, the best kind.
