Northeastern, or Western Rocky mountain coconuts?

Well we got  our winter finally, it decided to come all at once, we have about 10" -12" all piled up in places up to 2 or 3 feet so far, its not done yet either revised forcast is calling for 16" with continued 25-35 mph wind. We lost power at 6pm last night, which is very rare for us, its still out and  been on generator since.   I'll post pics if my wife manages to force me outside again.  :icon_biggrin:

Huh, we get to sit this one out until the tail of it whips northward on Thursday (so they SAY, mind you  :eusa_think: ).

Looks like a biggun too. If it was January I'd say Bring It On! Right now we get just above freezing and minimal melting.

Lots of crows, all competing for nesting plots. No coconuts yet, but I'll keep an eye out.

I forgot to ask if they were African or European crows.......

Ugh, hard to tell because it drifted up, but around 18-20"  drifts up to about 4' in places.

I didn't even wear a coat for a 3 or so day just up to 3 days ago.  I sure welcome the moisture but... :eusa_doh:

A person forgets how frickin hard it is to move or do stuff in deep snow.

You lucky dog you.  We got the 43 mph wind sure enough, along with temp last night of 12 degrees, and maybe 25 snowflakes or so.

Wow. Nice bit of snow. The last couple years all the really big storms have blasted south of us, this one too. We're supposed to catch a little of the tail end tomorrow, but no 18 inches.

Our problem is that the temps won't moderate. It should be a mudfest by now.

balsum fractus

wow....that has got to be tough......why, I can hardly see the ski chalet through all that snow....

Last time we had a storm like this was April of 09 ironically.   Sure needed it,, sure don't like it right now.  It was so wet and piled up deep enough, our neighbor to the north had a machine shed roof cave in, took out probably 60' or roof.  I haven't got out yet to see how everyone else faired.

fwiw.........we got rain!  First time this year....

balsum fractus

heads up....we've got another winter storm arriving tonight. It will spend the weekend here ;-( then head somewhere south.......

stetto

Yeah Nony, heading for us this time--The guessing panic mongers are calling for upwards of 16 inches on Sunday.

We've had April storms like this before, but the stuff would melt away in the next two days. It won't get warm...

It was a real blizzard here I guess, even killed a woman in the Nebraska panhandle when her car got stuck in adrift on the way home from work.  She was close to home evidently, so her 19yo son walked out to her, found her hypothermic and tried to carry her back, they got disoriented, he could not carry her anymore, and left her in the snow to get help. They found him the next morning in an abandoned farmhouse, frost bit and hypothermic, and found her frozen.  Pretty tragic.  They moved here 2 years ago from Vancouver WA and had never been in a blizzard before.

I guess people don't believe stories that you can lose your way just feet from a house or whatever, I have had it happen a couple times where I am feeding etc and a white out blows up, its not just that you can't see, its the sense of movement as the snow blowing by and not being able to see literally 2' removes all sense of direction and distance. If on foot I just hunker down until a lull and I can see something to get bearings. I had it happen while on a tractor, and just kept going until I hit something, and hoped it wasn't an Eskimo.

well we got about 4" of snow then it warmed up and turned to rain, so it was a non-issue........

We saw a few clouds and had the wind blow over 30mph again.  We had to get the chisal out and use it.  Man it sure is dry here.  Father in law is 90 and says he has never seen it this dry, even in the dustbowl he went through.

Erg, they are calling for another 4-8" Monday and Tuesday, with lows to 9.
