Patience Stettohopper......strong north-ish winds will blow our plus 40-ish temperatures down your way real soon.......

stetto

I don't mind the north winds at all...When the blow anywhere southish though, we get this:

I cleared the driveway just two days ago...Woke to this today, and we only got an inch of snow. :eusa_wall:

Jaime, this from a friend of mine in Lufkin. I think they close schools for this down there...

The doors on the truck were frozen shut this morning.  Had to get the heat gun and thaw them out.  Broke my ice scraper, too.  Now I have to make a trip home to get a new one because they don't sell them here!  Lows were in the 20's and it rained for most of the night, so there's a nice coating of ice on everything.  We cancelled a bunch of flights today.

Stetto, I think they got snow in San Antonio and Austin as well.  It's supposed to be back into the 60's by tomorrow.

Man, that is a pretty stout snow drift!

stetto

We got another inch last night, but the gales blew from the north.  :eusa_clap:

Now I'm told to expect another 3" tonight and blizzard conditions tomorrow. :eusa_doh:

It's usually the second half of February when I start saying this, but since mid-January came in early December--

I'm ready for it to be over now. Definitely ready... :'( :icon_cry:

Well, our bubble of warm air is leaving us tonight.....heading somewhere down south.... :'(

Back into the deep freeze tomorrow..

Onepoint

It was near 60 yesterday, but with usual 15-25 mph wind.  We are are supposed to get your cold stuff backed up over us for a few days, but we have not any snow since Xmas, and with all the wind, you would not know it snowed at all this year.  Can sure tell the wind blew, we have traded trash and small animals with the neighbors.

The NWS has issued a half dozen blizzard warnings here this winter, none of which qualified by definition. Not once have I been unable to see my mailbox for even a moment, which is MY definition of a blizzard.

We're under yet another "blizzard warning" today...WTF? Are they attempting to make people afraid to venture outside in the winter? Is this some Climate Change tactic? :eusa_sick: Yeah, we've been cold, and yeah, the wind blows like it does every winter, but what's with the Chicken Little gag?

I was testing an iPhone microphone this morning. Yes, it's weather related...

This winter thing is getting old.  70 degrees yesterday, 50 today, lows supposed to be down into the 20s with a chance of snnnn......ssssssnnn.....that white stuff tonight and tomorrow.  If you don't like the weather around here, just wait a minute.  Maybe the cold will kill some of the mosquitoes.

And of course, it this had to happen during my weekend.   :sadness:

I am told that these cold snaps up here are eradicating the emerald ash borers which were beginning to become epidemic in this part of the country. About half of our trees are various types of ash, so that's a good thing.

The hard freeze continues, one fool forecaster predicting that we won't see above zero temps for at least the next month. I say, well, at least it ain't a leap year... :disturbed:

31 degrees when I came to work yesterday.  62 this morning, cloudy and a chance of rain.  Is this winter or what?

Heh. Last night I ran across this hoaxumentary  from 2007about global warming and how these 2 particular walrus and polar bear were struggling in their melting world.  It droned on and on how the end was nigh and their babies could never know the great frozen north again. .

And I was thinking the bear could just go dine on those scientists that are stuck in the ice, probably enough there to hold  her all winter.  The walrus has not been seen since the ice is so thick she drowned.

I read that the cold weather is due to global warming.
