Hey Texas, hide the good silver!

This is pretty scary - a plan might actually be coming together!  Keep me posted.  Have truck, will travel.

Don't feel bad, Stetto.  Houston has been under construction since we moved here last century.  It's all those damn Yankees moving down here...   :eek5:

Roger, our hosts said the best in Texas is the City Market in Luling. They aren't far from each other but a bit far for Carl, especially for a day trip. We're heading to aransas shortly, stopping in Luling on the way just to find out....

The Bass Pro Shop in Round Rock is still the most central located.

There's a Buc-ee's in Luling (just east of San Antonio on I-10) as well, one of the bigger ones!  I've heard the City Market is really good, but have not been there.

Happy Easter guys. We have a warm fog hazing our Sunday morning on the beach, but compared to a high of 37 with exploding propane trucks this is wonderful! We aren't expecting to get ot of here til around noon, and gad I hope Sunday traffic is lighter in Texas than Friday traffic.

The Puddinface has found where she'd like to spend out her days, starting immediately if possible. She spent a solid pair of hours in the surf trying to figure out boogie boarding.

Ok, I guess we're going to breakfast. I'm hoping you guys are good with bass pro in Round Rock tomorrow.

Jaime, I promise to try to get into a Buc-ees, honest.

We have a place. Do we have a time?

Happy Easter!

You're going to have a hard time going back north now, Stetto!  Tell Puddin Face she's more than welcome to stay in Texas...

Bass Pro in Round Rock it is.  At what time?

stetto

How about noonish? It will be on our way out of town, so time is relative to a packed vehicle. We can fine tune via cell phone. My # is in a post above.

Carl, sad to say it, but you won't have to cook...

The 2016 edition of the Fubar Texas get together has come and gone with a great time being had by all.  The time spent together was all too short, but better than none at all.  We met at the Bass pro shop in Round Rock Texas, just a bit north of Austin.  You can actually eat there as well buy whatever outdoor stuff you can think of.  Roger and I arrived at the designated hour, but Stetto got lost driving in circles on the frontage road, nearly ran out of gas while doing so, then tried to blame it on Terrin.  I guess road signs are in a different language in Minnesnnnnn.......sssssssss......snnnnnn...wherever Stetto lives.  Puddin' Face wanted to stay here after sampling Texas beach life.  There's a freakin' bowling alley in the Bass pro shop in Round Rock, Texas.

Carl, Nony, Frazz, Honcho, we missed you guys.

Stetto, I love ya, man.  Glad ya didn't leave the camera on the bumper this time....  :icon_mrgreen:

I wanted to be there so bad, but just couldn't get it done.  So glad to hear that everyone had a great time.  Can't wait to see the pics.

Onepoint

That's too bad Carl, but its tough to get away sometimes.   But at least Stetto got to shake hands with Jaime and Roger, some of us have yet to do that, and sounds like you guys had a good time, so all is good if Stetto ever recovers from Texas driving.  :icon_lol:

What a week! total 3577.6 miles put on a rented Jeep Patriot (don't bother trying one, terrible vehicle). Yes Jaime and Roger, about 15 of those miles were put on because of a six inch wide street sign and the YouCan'tGetThereFromHere road designs in central Texas. Fort Worth is easier to navigate going north than going south, and we're going to have to come back, if only to visit a Buc-Ee's. :icon_redface:

Oh, to have actually had a week! We spent most of the time there driving (except Saturday, where it was only golf carts back and forth down the beach), and now both Terrin & I seem to be suffering from the road version of jet lag.

I only have a few pics of the meeting at Bass Pro, but I was afraid Jaime would start hogging the lens and make with the goofy poses (honestly Pat, smack him once in a while!), but I will post them once I figure out how to use Photobucket...

Seriously, Joyce and Roger, Jaime and Pat, I am so sorry we didn't have more time. This was, afterall, a business trip for Terrin that she graciously invited the PuddinFace and I to tag along, so there will have to be an official Next Time, when the Onepoint's cows aren't in labor, Nony's boy has a scheduled route (including appropriate layover), we can free up Carl and Frank and maybe commandeer a condo on the beach on the south Texas coast...

No guys, no cameras were lost in the making of this grand adventure...

stetto

Oh, and if I ever move to Texas, it will be to live near Luling and an H.E.B.

zrct02

I see one major flaw in your move to Texas plan. Luling isn't anywhere near the beach. I'm thinking PuddinFace might have an issue.

Stetto, the road signs aren't that small.  The rest of us got there just fine on the same road....

There are HEB's all over Texas except way out west.  My favorite one is in Hondo, Texas, which has a huge oak tree in the parking lot that was on the land before they built the place.  The parking lot was laid around it, and it shades the entire front of the store in the afternoon.  Luling is near New Braunfels (home of Schlitterbahn) and the Guadalupe and Frio rivers, which are just fine for tubing and other water related PuddinFace type activities.

It was great to finally meet you, Eric.  I'm glad you were able to make some time to see us.  And you're just jealous because I'm prettier than you are... :icon_mrgreen:

stetto

Well, the Face ain't the boss of me but for two more years, she can deal with it.

I'm reheating Luling brisket as I type. Jaime, I found that H.E.B. sells online, how's that for internet? I've downloaded recipes for Grannies Texas style beans (nope, gotta make yer own up here), and we'll never eat another hyper-sweet barbecue sauce drowned can of beans again...

Jaime, you got a cowlick, I'll try to airbrush it out before I post.

Roger, I looked it up: Giddings hosts one of the best rib joins in Texas. Are the residents unaware?
