Going to be in a prime spot for the upcoming eclipse.  Congrats.  We will see a partial one but mostly we are in the dark anyway  

I think that will be really neat to see it.  And load up some Zombie rounds too 

Heheh, yeah, I am actually right on the edge of it here, going up to Lyman to watch it so I can see the totality a little longer.  And of course watch the Zombie apopcolips unfold in the crowd.  They are expecting a ridiculous amount of people to come watch.  Any bets that it will be cloudy? 

Sounds neat, don't jinx yourself on the clouds. Happens to us with every meteor shower and northern lights show, 'cause some pessimist brings a cloud bank in...

You know you guys are welcome to come watch, just rememeber....

1. Wyoming has a huge amount of public land open to exploring and enjoying but it isn't a garbage dump. Take out what you take in. We live here 365 days a year. The public land is our back yard. We hunt, fish, trap and camp there and will take it as a personal insult if you screw it up.

2. With that being said, not all land is public. There is a lot of private land including ranches and farms that have been in the family for over a hundred years. If there is a No Trespassing sign at a gate or road that means you. Stay out or some gentleman wearing a cowboy hat wearing irrigating boots and riding a four wheeler will let you hear the sound a True Temper irrigating shovel makes while it ricochets off your skull.
(wow, I think someone has been stalking me since I sit here typing with cowboy hat and irrigation boots after just coming in off the ATV)     

3. We drive trucks, tractors, combines and swathers on the highway going about our business. They go pretty slow and won't move faster if you sit behind us and honk. In fact, they actually go a bit slower. We live here. You don't. Be patient and enjoy the scenery. The shovel will sing it's song to you again if you wish.

4. There is a very good chance you will see someone carrying a firearm. Yes, it is loaded and no I don't have a damn permit for it. Everybody and I mean everybody owns a gun in Wyoming and a lot of us carry one quite regularly. Don't panic. Don't call the police. And above all behave and treat us and our state with respect and there won't be a problem.

5. Our dogs. Our dogs ride in the back of our trucks and they like it. Sure a few slow learners take a tumble every once in a while but for the most part they do just fine. Don't pet them while they are in the truck. They will bite you. Numerous times if possible. The truck is their's not your's and they take their security duties seriously. Again, don't panic and don't call the police because they don't give a damn and they are probably going to be busy saving some tourist from a self inflicted bout of Cranial Rectumitis.

6. Our wildlife will kill you and it will hurt the whole time you are dying. Elk, moose, bison and grizzly bears take great pleasure in playing hacky sack with tourist that's get too close. They are wild animals and are not trained circus acts. If you must harass our wildlife may I suggest you go catch a badger. They are really good cuddlers.

7. Our weather will kill you and yes it will hurt the whole time. It snows here every month of the year. Our back roads become death traps when it rains or snows. Your Prius isn't an offroad vehicle so stay on pavement. Don't make our brave and skilled First Responders have to go looking for your dumb ass when you go exploring.

Heh, that's some nifty (and poignant) writing.

I got so much going on right now I wouldn't notice the dang thing go by. Fargo media is gaga to get folks to load up the highways and go to Omaha (Only 6 hours! Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity!!). I saw one in Tulsa OK back in 82 or 83, I remember the daylight turning a thick dusky dark orange, then it was done. The zombies failed to get the memo for that one, I hope you get at least a sighting, Herr Kler....

I watched the one in MT in 79, and it wasn't  long after that the liberals came unhinged with Reagan getting elected, so maybe it did hatch zombies.   

Overcast and rain today. I'll settle for vicarious enjoyment of this event  through you guys.

It was supposed to be severe clear as of Saturday, now they are saying high clouds, we will see.   Be glad when its done, so this goes away.

4:30 am WYO line this morning

And this was 7 am.   Basically that many cars have been streaming in since very early this morning. 

We have a 30% chance of rain between 11 and 2. Probably be cloudy and act like a normal evening for us here in west central Kansas

I may stop the tractor for a while though and see what we see. I have my infrared glasses on and super man underwear on though, in case of zombies 

We're supposed to get 85% coverage at 1:00, in 10 minnits. We also have HEAVY cloud cover. So it looks like what a thunderstorm does.

Well shoot, I lied. Slight break in the clouds. Our peak was at 1:01. Looked like

It didn't cloud over so got to see it. For us it was blocked except for a sliver and my home weather station dropped 5 degrees while it was going on.

Now I'm wearing super man undies for nothing. 

Clear here, I don't get any good pics of the sky, but it sure made for some weird shadows during the partial phase.
