"I don't care if it rains or freezes
Long as I got my plastic Jesus
Sittin' on the dashboard of my car!
But the Virgin Mary's got to go
"Cuz the magnet screws up my radio
Sittin' on the dashboard of my car...."

Heh heh, the Detroit Lakes MN high school class of 1978 believes that I wrote that song, all 27 verses..... :icon_mrgreen:

A few minutes!?? My bakflip folds up agin the cab in about 10 seconds......gimme 40 seconds more and I can have it completely off the truck. Only down side is that it costs a bazzillion dollars more than the soft cover.....😁😁

Mine came with the truck, but since I have it, I wouldn't ever think about doing a soft cover...Of course, in YOUR part of Texas, Jaime, I can see the appeal... :icon_mrgreen: Does that soft cover lock up? Nice feature in this day and age...

QuoteDoes that soft cover lock up?

The cover doesn't, but the tailgate does.  I don't usually leave stuff in the bed of the truck, no need to.  The people out here who travel around stealing tailgates take the hard covers, too.

Nice people.....!

Mine came with the truck. My buddy had the roll up soft top, and I thought it was pretty neat, and probably would have gone that route.....

Statically charged razor wire, man. Tried the broken glass embedded in the clear coat, but that became a bloody mess. 'Lectrified wire convinces them to bleed as they run....

I had a Jeep CJ broke into once in Mesa, AZ. $2000 worth of tools in the back and what did they take? The window from the hardtop... :eusa_think:

Stealing tailgates became a big business down here.  They got really expensive with all the cameras and stuff installed in them, so for some reason, the manufacturers decided to make them quick remove.  I could pull the one off the Taco in about 30 seconds if I cut the wiring to the camera and the lock.  The cheap anti theft device is a hose clamp around the hinge pin that sits in the open socket on the passenger side, and a fender washer over the bolts that hold the removable ends of the tailgate cables.  That's the main reason I never leave anything in the bed of the truck...

Speaking of replacing windshields. We bought a Chrysler 300 a couple of years ago. Unbeknownst to us, the windshield had been replaced and the rear view mirror (3rd party rv mirror). One day I decided I'd use the hands free phone thingy app. Would not work. Took to dealership and they charged me $100 to tell me I had a third party rv mirror and that's why it did not work. I told them the tech should have been able to tell from the get-go it wasn't their mirror and testing wasn't necessary. Fell on deaf ears. They then said it would be $500 to replace the rv mirror with a genuine Chrysler mirror.
Found one on ebay for $99 and my son-in-law and I installed. Works.

Yeah, Mom has the turbo charged 2.0 i4 in her escape,  and it runs pretty well pushing something like 245hp, but the 2.3 in the ranger is about 270hp and I imagine any serious pulling would suffer.  Probably fine for tooling around town though.   One thing I hate on the new ones is the auto start and stop, it will shut off at a stop light, then start when you take your foot off the brake, you can disable it, but only until you start it again and its automatically  engaged, drives me nuts.

We got us a newer vehicle couple months ago.  Honda Odyssey had well over 200k+ miles.  We drove it easy enough we never had to put new brakes on since we bought it new.  We drive pretty conservatively as we know who has to pay the repair bills.  Anyway we could see some stuff like brakes, another replacement timing belt and other things coming up and just decided to sell it and update.  We got a 2017 Toyota Highlander.  Found out on the engine start/stop thingie, it shutting off depends how hard you are braking at a stop.  I never shut that engine switch off and very rarely have it shut off now.  Right before you stop let up on the brake enough to hold it but don't press hard.
To understand true love, lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of your car for an hour and then see which one is glad to see you when you come back
