So after a day of complaining her lower abdomen was painful, at 1am last night Vicki got to go visit the nice people in the ER. Just came back in from chores after bringing her back home after surgery today. Can't complain about that, almost outpatient, she is doing well, gets a few days off work to heal.  Timing was good if you are going to have such things, just after a major storm that had roads closed, could have been a lot more serious just 48 hours earlier.

But a few things are clearly apparent as I reflect over the last 24 hours or so

I can't pull an all nighter and be worth a damn the next day anymore.

My wife works waaaay harder than I do

Why the hell does anyone have  milk cows?

We have too many dogs

Winter sucks

I'm sure all those epiphanies will get repeated from time to time, because thankfully God has made my memory short.

Well wishes to Vicki, Terrin & I went through something very similar on her 50th birthday. Difference being we don't have a farm to maintain. I do sympathize, brother...

For me, the realization that I couldn't do what I could do just a few years earlier was bad enough, but then it slowly sunk in that this is the New Normal, and that is a hard pill.

Hope Vicki is doing better, and wish her a full recovery...

This age thing is relentless.....as you whippersnappers are starting to find out. I'm not going to bore you with my aches and pains, but, remember, you only have one set of body parts, and nature is not good at making them better. You have to take care of what you have.......

'Scuse me, I have to go out and shovel snow...... ( ooooo......ow.........ouch.......)

Best wishes to Vicki, hope she's feeling better.  Appendix?

To add to your list:

Airplanes ain't nearly as glamorous as they used to be.

12 hour shifts suck.

I thought as I got older, I'd have all kinds of time to do stuff.  Didn't realize that when the kids moved out, so did all the help.  So now, the kind of stuff I have to do is not the kind of stuff I like to do.

I can still do stuff, but it takes a lot longer than it used to.

At least I don't have to shovel snow...

When are you coming south, Stetto?   :disturbed:

She is doing much better,  still a little tender but starting to feel human again,  and yes duh I thought I said why, her appendix was angry at her,   they caught it before it ruptured or anything.   She was only in the hospital about 18 hours total.

I keep telling her whatever pain  she felt pales in comparison to the pain I feel doing her chores.  Fortunately I can still outrun her at this point.
