I stumbled across him on RCU (which I don't follow any more). He replied to me two years ago, and I only just stumbled across that!!

Anways, this is what he had to say:

When I retired, I bought two electric planes... A Flyzone FW- 190 and a similar sized Hellcat, the name of which, I do not remember. Was gonna get to flying again. Checked out my old club's new field. Didn't like it and both planes have been sitting on my workbench for 4 years now. I still have the interest, just not the time and a convenient place to fly.
I did finally restore my '68 GTO when I retired..been enjoying that, hitting the occasional car show, etc.. I have a '66 GTO on the back burner but I don't know if I have another restoration in me. Like I tell my son sometimes... I can still physically do everything I've ever could do...except now, it HURTS!

Cool,  a while back I was thinking about him, and Ray Hightower because I have been seeing Eugene Chernosky on facebook from time to time which jarred some memories loose.   

Ooooo.....you would have to bring that name up. But I do miss Ray, and wonder what he is up to......

Heh, yeah unlike wine, he has not seemed to mellow with age.

And Ray, almost came to the 'Clam (geoducks & all) back in ought-2, had to settle for that phone call.

Well hell, now I'm reminiscing about Big Mike, moT and the old gang again!

Dangit, Nony! You've got my brain working now....I hate when that happens. The phone appearances were with moT and GrnBrt, right?

I'm going to agree that Ray was there, there was a Ray-Ban covered face in one of those lawn chairs, but Carl & Billie Sue brought the smoker & brisket, THAT'S the beef I remember.... 

That dammed brain transplant really did a number on me....

Ray stayed in the fubar guesthouse....I remember some of his wild Air Force stories...like taking parts off of Air Force One....

I had some pictures at one time, but have no idea which camera, or which computer they were on.....I've been through a few of each since then.

To your credit, there are things I don't remember, like the phone call........

Yeah, I especially remember the chat with Art, who talked to me like a long lost best friend, and other than my reverence for the guy's military pedegree and his BIG presence at all those great sites before RCU sucked all the air out of the internet, I was a little starstruck by him. He was a grump in his own right, too, helluva moderator.

I remember that moT and Big Mike had history in the way back, New Orleans IIRC....I got to talk with him a few times after then, haven't heard from him in years...

Yeah,  Art was on the phone, and Jaimie, (or was that the second one) in the afternoon.  George flying a ton, Ray sat around the fire telling us about his airforce days,  Stetto and I were talking about politics even back then.  Smoked brisket,  oysters, Geoducks and Crispy Cream hats.  That was a great time for the ages.

Awe man, what a great bunch of memories. Hard to believe it has actually been that long ago. Billie Sue actually found my "Gathering of the Clam" t-shirt the other day. That was one great weekend! The food, friends, flying, crashing....

That's what friends are for...making lasting memories.....!
