The Vaccine

So. who is going to get the vaccine right away? I told my wife I might wait until I see what happens to people. She asked how are you going to know? I said they will be dropping like flies, lol. We argue a bit, then I sarcastically asked her what if you found out there was somehow a microchip embedded in the vaccine?

So apparently I have to shove movies up my ass now since I mentioned I have seen movies where this is done.

:icon_lol:  Well if you think about it,  your credit cards and drivers license has a chip that tracks you already.

But no,  I won't be getting the vaccine right away, if ever.   The way a doctor explained how viruses and vaccines work is when you catch it, a virus starts to attack the body, the body reacts as if the organ being attacked is the problem and attacks it as well (inflammation), so 1st the body has to recognize the virus is threat itself and mark the virus for destruction,  but you still have to get infected by it to get the antibodies to kill it.  The vaccine just shortens the time it take for your body to recognize it fooling it to think it has already killed the invasive virus and reject it to not allow the virus to attach to organs and just shed it.

So catching it and surviving is much better long term.  People will still die even after being vaccinated because their immune system is too weak or in some cases the vaccine simply doesn't work. And unlike other viruses, this one is not going to be eradicated by vaccine, it will be mitigated, but will always be with us until most everyone has natural antibodies to kill it. Even when natural immunity wears off from catching it like the vaccine immunity does,  your antibodies will still be there to fight it, where with a vaccine they will not, so it will be a continual vaccination forever, like the regular flu vaccines every year,  because you have no defense to fight it.  For a disease that has a 98% survival rate that is continually improving survivability as we find more people have it, I will take my chances.  This isn't polio.

Aside from that I won't be rushing out to get new vaccine when it seems every 3rd ad on TV is for class action lawsuits for a drug that was popular and still turned out to be harmful.  And it will  be years until we know side effects.  I had a neighbor contract Guillain-BarrĂ© this spring from the flu vaccine, 6 weeks in the hospital and 6 months recovery, and extreme pain in between.  No thanks.

There are still people dying from the flu shot, and from what I've heard at a higher rate than the KungFlu itself.

No shots for me, nor Terrin. My pharmacist calls every once in a while to try and get me in for a shingles vax, I tell them to call me when the masks come off.

Blood Services finally stopped calling after I got NSFW on the last three. I can't be the only O-neg in town, fercryinout loud.

These folks will kill each other to be first in line for the FEMA trains, I swear.

I tell them I'm not interested in playing (haven't worn a mask yet), and they react like Donald Sutherland at the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers...

Oh, and this

Quote...it seems every 3rd ad on TV is for class action lawsuits for a drug that was popular and still turned out to be harmful.

A personal peeve for me.
Don't think for a second that our benevolent FDA isn't in on this money laundering operation. It amazes me that while Trump was going after swamp critters he didn't start with one of the most corrupt agencies there is...And yes, they're going to prematurely approve a bunch of vax's. Invest in popcorn, boys!!

The way I see it, once all the high and mighty government officials, their families, medics, first responders, older people and kids get the vaccine, there won't be any left for any of us.  So I'm not going to worry about it.  That's all the TV talking heads can seem to report on the past few days - the order of vaccination.

It's funny to me that a few months ago, they were telling us not to expect a vaccine until next year, and then miraculously, a few days after the election, it's suddenly available!  How did that happen?   :eusa_think:

Frazz

Well, had my first shot a week ago, and I'm still alive.  It was the moderna shot, so have to wait 28 days from first injection.

Jetmex, it's been a little weird on coincidences like that the last month or so, hasn't it?

Frazz, I'm on a waiting list thanks to my wife, who decided when she signed up that I needed to be on it.  The city made up classes to determine who gets shot first, they go something like 1A, 1B - depending on age, physical condition, income etc.  Wife is in 1B because of her various conditions, but I'm not in a class at all because I don't have conditions, (not physical ones, anyway... :disturbed: ), I'm not broke and I'm not old enough.  But they run out of the stuff every day, they're not getting as many doses as they're supposed to, and the media has created the term "vaccine desert" to describe all the "communities of color" that can't seem to get the stuff.  But that's ok because all the federal, city and state officials have been vaccinated, so they can stay well enough to keep coming up with excuses as to why the rest of us aren't.

Ironically as the news  last night was full of people talking about waiting, they grudgingly reported they had the 1st confirmed death from the vaccine in NE.  Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I've been listening to real doctors in the field, they are NOT enthusiastic about something that has the potential to create more grief than it supposedly defends from.

Sorry, but an "expert" that cashes a .gov check is neither a doctor nor an expert IMO. And a "vaccine" where part of the destructions say to continue double-masking and distancing?

Come on....  :disgust:

My strategy is to stay home and avoid people! So far, so good........😁

Heh, yeah, I apparently I train for that like its an Olympic sport!  :disturbed:

So I had my second Moderna shot about 10 days ago.  Yeah, it got me.  I got the shot at 8:30 am, few hours later got a little dizzy feeling, then went down from there.  Mild headache that night, chills started in and I could flat not get warm, and no appetite for supper.  Next day just had no motivation at all, felt like mild flu, slept dang near all day, and that evening around 8 pm I started feeling pretty good and had a little appetite.  Received the shot on friday morning and by sunday was at 90% over the effects.

Yeah baby, I'm still alive.

This morning my wife got her second shot of same vaccine.  We will see how she fares the next couple of days.

The health people around here say if you get a little sick, you know the vaccine is working.  I am now entitled to carry around a card that says I'm vaccinated.

Well look at the bright side, ta lest it didn't kill you, or give you Gillian barre

My wife only has a sore arm.  None of the symptoms I had.  Guess it just depends on the person.

I got my first shot this morning, in a high school parking lot of all places.  My arm is a little sore, but that's about it.  To be honest, I only got it because Pat (my wife) asked me to.  I'll get the second one sometime next month.  Maybe....

I'm guessing that this vaccine will be the next form of discrimination, seeing as how airlines are pushing for proof of vaccination before they'll let you fly.  People are still getting arrested for not wearing masks here, even though the mandate has been lifted.  I can hardly wait to see what stupid thing happens next.

Yeah, I have no real bias against vaccines,  even this one besides the panic that brought it out without the testing we usually do.  But this is more politicized than any other vaccine, for more ambiguous benefit.

I won't be getting it,  I avoid vaccinations for flues on principle anyway, and other than maybe age am at the lowest risk factor even if I get it.

But you are right, this is becoming the "Papers please" national travel restriction the statists have been dreaming of.  At this rate I wonder how long before it will be when after the majority of people are vaccinated before corporate box stores make you show you are vaccinated before unconditional entry.  I guess they miss the irony of us all having to sign for every bit of medical info shown as being permission to be shared because our medical condition is sacredly private, yet here we are compelled to disclose it?

And what gets me is how self righteous and proud these people are while they are doing this.

Couple this with anyone regardless race who are conservative are increasingly being classed as white supremists, which in turn is being labeled domestic  terrorists, and you can see what kind of society we are going toward.
