Here's to a few all-day soakers, Honcho. My boy up in NW MN tells us that the farmers there are complaining that all this wet weather and goofy temp swings are delaying planting. Different end of the spectrum, I guess.

Jaime, I just don't know what to tell you....muscle up, you'll be flying again in no time!! :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:

Yesterday was a Jeckyl and Hyde day, started out beautiful, got hot feeling in fact to mid 80s and relatively humid which we have not seen anything close to yet this year, and actually calm for change.   By 7pm, temp was still around 65 or so, but the wind came up from the south, including some impressive gusts here,  must have been worse to the east.

A house fire in Lyman just across the park from moms burned to the ground, luckily they got it out before it came, but not so lucky East of Scottsbluff of few miles , one of the little towns called Minatare was partially evacuated after the wind gusts took down some power poles and started a fire in that 50mph steady wind they could not control. Visibility was zero from the smoke and dust, so I bet evacuating was a challenge itself. Power was out in parts of Scottsbluff for the night I heard too.  Not a great way to start spring.

We did get some wet, but so far its just been a drizzle and not much real moisture, but supposed to continue through out the day.  Most of this is going north as snow looks like.

Sorry to hear about the lack of moisture. I truly hope you get some relief!

Up here, the Seasonal transition is directionally correct - got the first bug splat on the windshield yesterday!!

We got a little, but not much or nearly enough.  Just north they picked up quite a bit, 20 miles made a big difference here this time.  In fact Gillette WY and north, about 150 miles or so from here,  got hammered with a blizzard again, 12-15", 50 mph wind gave them 7' drifts etc.  I have been seeing all kinds of wild pictures.   I guess I should stop complaining, we got a little snow, but didn't get a blizzard.  We got wind but didn't get 100 mph like they did just 25 miles east and took down a couple dozen power poles and sparked fires in the high wind.  And who knows, it may rain yet.

Just 4 days ago I was getting harassed by bees and flies out working, went through the shot of winter and now supposed to get nicer for a bit, that is spring in WY, situation normal I guess.

It rained here for the first time in nearly three months.  Nothing heavy, but at least my new tree and sod got a good soaking today.  Hopefully more on the way, but a lot of this front went north of us, so someone else is getting most of the rain.

Well I guess I can't complain since we got moisture finally, would have been nice to get it in liquid form, instead of the quasi slush balls falling now. Flakes are so big and wet its like getting hit with snow ball in the face when you walk.  But looks like over 1/2" of moisture so far in the gauge, which is likely more since its in arctic mode right now and looks like its supposed to keep it up until noon or so.  But maybe it will warm up now and with the moisture some grass will grow.

We were forecast rain for this morning. Nope. Full sun, bright & shiny like a billy goats hiney!

So in this week's tales from the wasteland, we got some wet stuff from the sky.  Apparently it has done this before, but it must have been like 120 wind years ago (feels like years).  Now in the past of recent history, the wet from the sky would let you make tracks in the dirt and other fun things.  This time however came something from the ground I don't recall in our written history.  It was oozy and cold, and out where the cows had stomped around, smelly.   This was immediately obvious coming from satans spawn upon this cursed land to vex us mere mortals.

It seemed odd the front tires of the tractor looked flat on the bottom as I drove out to get a round bale, but no mind as long as it moved forward as I parted the white ground like a pair of ships making wakes.  The landscape looked like a fluffy blanket of white cotton.  Almost picturesque, like everything had just been endowed with my pillow stuffing by angels, but it was deception. Because once you stepped off the tractor step into it, it sucked you onto the very precipice of oblivion.  As I held onto the tractor as if it was the last lifeboat on the Titanic, debating if I really wanted that boot or if it might be enough to placate the angry gods, and wondered if I had the strength to retrieve it anyway, I realized the trap that had been set.  Once in there was no going back, but through.

In the end I did make it back to the relative comfort of the porch, It was not without an unkind word, or 4.  And I don't mean to sound heroic, but I managed to go in with a leg and half, and came back the same, maybe not on the same side or anything, but the count was there.  I have googled it and I read it will go away eventually on its own, though I remain skeptical, it is the internet after all.

Sounds like a pretty scary day!  Did Linda Blair make an appearance?

Onepoint

Not yet, but the days still remains!

Winter is definitely over here. 90 degrees with winds gusting to 20kts out of the south, which brings the humidity back.  It's supposed to thunderstorm tonight, but who knows?

We're heading into 80s daytime, 50s to 40s at night. Pepper plants HATE that kind of temp swings, blossom drop is 100% right now.

We had what the locals called an "all day soaker" two days ago, but it amounted to a tenth of an inch in my guage. I guess I have a lot of redefinition to work on out here.

Raining here......much needed as the snow runoff went into the storm drains rather than into the soil, so everything is pretty dry, and there have been somw wildfires already. Rain is good right now.....

Onepoint

We got a bit over an inch from the last storm and was most welcome, it's almost all soaked up already except in the corrals etc.  But its 80 with a 30 mph wind, so its going to dry up fast. Supposedly we might get a shower or 2 the next couple days though.  Which would be good, because despite the good shot of moisture the grass is looking pretty paltry.
